Anybody change out their pups on their S2 594?

Ok, this isn't the first S2 I have owned. Had a Standard 24 and a singlecut in the past. Like on my previous adventures with the S2 series, the pickups are ok but just not great. I want to love this guitar, but it just isn't happening. I have a Gibby LP Trad ( a beast of a guitar ) and the 594 is close but it suffers like the Epiphones and has the bridge pup too far from the bridge. I'm thinking turn it into a more metal machine and get a Dimarzio Air Zone (not the Tone Zone-too hot and less dynamic). I am very familiar with the Air Zone pup because I really liked it in some Ibby Prestige models.
This would definitely add a lot more fire than the stock.
Anybody try one of these pups or something similar in their S2 594? If so, what did you think?

Once I get a Thinline I plan on tracking down a set of Starlas. Or find a set of Starla’s and then get a Thinline. Either way that’s going to be my combo.

OP I have a thinline and kept the stock pups in them and I like them with gain....I do however have an older standard 22 with a JB in the bridge and it sounds awesome....I also recently bought an extremely lightly used Vela with a Dimarzio in the bridge and it also sounds awesome...butbim not sure they're so much better than tge stock pups in my thinline to be honest....SO if I had to replace the pups in my 594 I would go with the JB overall for a little mord sizzle and growl....let us know what you choose...
