Sorry, I just realized this, but I found another reason to love PRS and this forum. Aside from all the great people, advice, and lack of flame wars... quite simply:

There's no ad's!

So, that is all, ad free forums rock :-)

I'll drink to that (well, a green tea anyway)!

Edit:

All the pretty pictures you guys post inspire me to pull out my Cu22 and play!

What a great feeling neck!

Just the nut on a PRS solves a host of problems I'd gotten used to even on famous maker guitars that Plek their nut slots, etc.

I guess I sound like a PRS newby, and sure enough I'm late to the party after playing everything else over the years, but I'll admit I get enthusiastic anytime I play my new PRS!

FYI, you don't Plek the nut slots. The frets get leveled by the Plek machine. It totally lives up to the hype. I've had 2 guitars Plek'd and the action is amazing.

It is an official site so you would expect it wouldn't have ads. Seriously, what official forums do you visit that have ads? And this forum is totally a giant ad, we give each other tremendous gas and envy :p

Not personally a member of a lot of "official" forums, but the Traxxas forum is loaded with them... doesn't make sense either because they're all ads that link back to pages on the site you're already on, lol.

I guess Gibson hypes the benefits of their Plek'd nuts on low end guitars then? I remember The Heritage got a Plek machine for frets years ago and it sounded like a good idea when I first heard of the concept.

In the past I just used to level frets with a big Mill Smooth file, then contour them back to shape using a felt tip marker and fret file. I suppose Plek machines take off less material though.

Nowadays I like guitars I can set lower then my height preference without buzzing, but I prefer the action a bit higher than just total "power steering" anyway, like for instance: PRS's!

My 2013 Cu22 seems perfect for me, and my 2001 Swamp Ash Special is damn close to perfect too (the Pattern neck on the Cu22 is just a skoash nicer than what I assume is the wide/fat on the Swamp Ash Special).

Yep - just one of the many benefits here!

Throwback is good stuff, but I can only drink maybe a can a week, otherwise it starts tasting flat and flavorless.
