Well, I already fully blamed several people for this, but my wife doesn't believe it. I know that no matter what happens, I'll always be looking for "The One." The perfect one, the last one, the next one, the fun one. She'll always just see it as "another one?"

I'm OK with that. She loves me, and knows I'm not being financially irresponsible (at least not enough to cause issues anywhere). I love her for that, among so many other things.

So, I started selling a couple things (no PRSs), to make room for a possible homecoming. I got a little carried away and listed a bunch, thinking the economy would limit the market. Maybe I'd end up selling one or two of the group. Well, with everyone home, shopping online, I was wrong. I ended up move a few at seller's pricing (who knew?!). One was a guitar I didn't really want to let go, but the offer was too good to turn down, and I really didn't play the guitar often--it was one of those "I love the idea more than the reality."

I had been enjoying one particular thread here more than others, as there were a bunch of old forum throw-back postings that really resonated. They triggered a repeated search, and I happen to hit on the right day for a price reduction that made it impossible to pass up. I've wanted one for years, and here it is at a great price (not as good as what @bodia got, but close enough)!

I can definitely tell you this is the ONE...

...another one, the fun, the perfect one to hold me over, the ONE!

It's in much better shape than the listing, sounds great, and feels tight. It'll be getting locking tuners and a new pup at some point, but for now, I'm just gonna rock it. Hard.

Thanks, all!

I sold my last black guitar a couple years ago, and have missed having something like that. There's an attitude that comes with black guitars. Not saying it's better; just different.

So far, I'm digging the bite it has. The pup doesn't do drastic volume clean-up, but works well for light crunch rolled down to clean or cranked leads rolled down to chunky rhythm. I'll play it through the pedal board and a couple different amps tomorrow. The action is about where I like it for slide, so I'll play around with the slide, too.

One pickup, one control, simple.

Congrats. A One won't dissapoint  While you're changing the tuners you might as well swap the nut for a core. And for what its worth, give the stock pup a try. I swapped the stock pup in one of my Ones for a Lollar, but I can't say that the Lollar is a lot better imho.

I really want one of these but the used prices are all over the map and some are just way too high. Not sure why they don't reissue as there does seem to be a continued market for it. Anderton's was able to get a limited run last year and would love to see a US dealer like GC or Sweetwater do the same.

That's a really cool guitar.
Enjoy it.

By the way...

Finding "the one" doesn't stop you.
I found my "the one" in February of 1969.
I still have it.
but...
There have been 50/60 guitars since I found it.
So far I have kept 10 of the "not the one" guitars.

Yeah, the nut will need to go. It is immaculate, so I figured I'd give it a go. If this does become a go-to slide guitar, I'll need to put 11s on it. Instead of wasting time on the current, I'll replace it.

I have one of Hans' old One P-90s in another guitar and really like it. I'll play with this one for a while and see how it goes. It's funny. I like the simplicity, but want a little "more." I love the modded Ones with the narrow 408, with coil taps. I'll keep my eye out for one of those.

Daaang, that one looks clean! Nice grab.

Gloss black is simultaneously the worst and most badass finish for a guitar.

Yep, totally agree. But, the bad@ss outweighs the issues.

I was looking at a few of those Anderton's guitars. Definitely need a reissue. As Hans pointed out, an S2 would be killer.

Made a couple killer tone mods today. I've been playing it a bunch, and really dig it, but felt there was a headstock tweak and a body tweak that would make it sound so much better.

Forum truss rod cover (I really wish the SEs were cut the same as the core) and a clear lampshade! It sounds SOOOOO much better now.

We were in Japan last March, and of course, I hit every guitar store I could without upsetting the family balance. A guitar wasn't in the cards (though there WAS a replica of Prince's cloud guitar that almost came home with me), but I did come home with a few pedals. The oddest is this one. There isn't much info (in English) on them, but they do have a couple cool pedals. This one works kind of like a cross between an EQ and a BBE Sonic Maximizer. I hadn't found the best way to use it... until today, with the SE One! Set the way I have it, it shifts the mid focus of the One down a bit, and adds bass. It's almost like having a neck pup. Pretty cool.
