Another boring project

or is it a board project...maybe just an I'm bored project.

Was looking at speaker/amp stands at SW and elsewhere for a new 2x12 speaker cab I'm having built.
Then I spotted custom wood Atlas ones and a new project was born.

Fairly easy to find most of the dimensions. I changed the design a bit as I dont need mine to fold up and become portable so that simplified everything.

Got the initial pieces cut, fit and attached. Still need to cut the speaker backrest uprights and crossbars and get those drilled and fit.
More to come......

Thanks all!

I am getting the uprights and back cross supports cut today. Should have a few more progress pics up soon.

Quick update and a few more pics.

I was waiting to hear back from my speaker cabinet builder as I realized I needed the height (location) of the speaker jack on the rear of the cabinet so I don't put a crossbar right in the way of the where the speaker jack is placed when the cabinet is sitting on the stand.
Once I got that measurement, I was able to cut the uprights and the crossbars and get those fitted and mocked up.

I cut and added a couple small blocks on the inside of both of the uprights to add some extra material for longer screws to add a little extra strength. I don't think this was necessary as most of the weight is going to be transferred straight down thru the base, but wanted that piece of mind when my cabinet and head are sitting on it.

Now, I'll break it down, get it all sanded up and add some wood plugs to the screw mounting holes and then stain! More to come....

Well all of you have missed the most obvious feature......................................lawn chairs for around the campfire!!!

Seriously though, pretty cool stands!

It's funny you say that. After I brought these pieces inside from the garage to warm up after gluing them, my wife took one look at them and asked if I would build her a pair of Adirondack chairs. :p
