I made one too but it's kind of crude to look at. It's 1/4 inch material with hinged wings on both ends to "wrap" around 4x12 cab and it's lined with 3" foam to absorb sound.

I also cut a hole and bolted a small V tray to hold a mic. It positions the mic in front of one speaker.

What I have really cuts down on the volume but on the down side it changes tone quite a bit depending on how close it is to the cab.

I use a RealTraps mini-gobo, that absorbs sound and isolates the microphone as well. It’s a great tool. And when it’s not on the amp, it makes a nice corner bass trap.

It’s designed by acoustical products specialists and it works well. I also use a bunch o’ their stuff in my mix area.

The plexiglas stuff just bounces sound around the room, there’s no absorption.

That begs for details - regarding the learning not to need it as much.

Put a guitar case in front of the cab, or turn the cab away from the crowd, or my favorite, scale the cab size for the venue. A 1x12 at a small bar is way easier to control than a 2x12 or 4x12. I know...shocking, right?
