Zombie five, DFZ
I am running through an HX/DA 30 watt paisley 2x12 combo now and it’s getting the majority of my attention. My other amp is a two channel H combo. I don’t use it much as the footswitch is wonky and It is a hassle when it randomly changes channels on its own.
I had a deal lined up to trade it away towards a Peavey 6505 Plus amp, something modern and aggressive which I dig. I always check my gear over before a deal so I can give it away in good condition which I look forward to in return. I took apart the footswitch and as I anticipated its fault was only an intermittent in the cord where it gets pinched down to pass into the switch housing. I cut it back a few inches and soldered the ends back into the two switches. Perfect now, switching clean and noise free.
So I fire it up and play through it awhile with some volume and realize I had forgotten how great it sounds. Gain for days, no fizz, beautiful cleans, and a gorgeous reverb. I am avoiding a big mistake and called off the deal before I have major remorse. The 6505 is cool but this sounds great.
HX/DA for killer Plexi tones and an A/B footswitch into the H for cleans and high gain. Two righteous combos and I am pretty good to go now. Yay.
