All about bicycles

Yesterday I went for a typical short ride down to Mud bay. Absolutely gorgeous day that hit 25C or so. Shorts and T-shirt!

But... holy carp! I thought the days of the Nemesis puddle were over, but no... Not only is it back, but dayum... it has moved, multiplied, and it's huge!

This picture doesn't do it justice. It goes right around the corner, and must be 200 - 300 feet long! It's also freakin' deep.

This is looking back from the other side. My feet were immersed with every pedal turn, and completely soaked.

You are then immediately faced with the other one. A bit shorter, but just as deep. I was horrified at the thought of having to stop in the middle...

Warned a few cyclists heading the other way. Anyway... made it to Mud bay. What a fantastic day!

A lonely kite with no owner/operator...

Needless to say I chose an alternate way back...

Yikes on the puddles of doom!

No kidding! Not sure I want to go through those again.

I’d be hesitant as well.

Just plow through those puddles, man! Your rear pack makes a great fender, so your back won't even get wet. If your bike ain't floating, it ain't too deep.*

*Note that these are the words of a Florida Man who doesn't ride an e-bike and has a tendency to "just send it" rather than applying good sense and reason.

I rode through water half way up my wheels and it was scary business. It is hard to push enough on the pedals to keep moving, but I didn’t dare stop because the flood stage current would have swept me downriver and probably smashed my skull into a concrete bridge.

That's the spirit! 😂 I do believe if there's a current like that, I'm walking across.

“Nice” … so you’re saying it has a kickstand!
When I had my last mountain bike, I didn't put on a kick stand; I had a folding wall-mounted holder for it.

I didn't keep it cased when not in use.

What can I say, I have yet to have a bicycle come with a case.

But it did make the garage more interesting. Um...kick stands are kind of...well...they're for very young kids or very old people. 🤣
