All about bicycles

On another note, today was quite a bit cooler at 14C/57F, and a bit windy to boot. Necessitated 2 layers of long sleeve and I traded the open finger gloves for full.
The new lid definitely has more airflow. I think in the winter I'm going to need a thin toque/cap as well...

Yesterday my knee felt good enough to get back on the steed for a test run. Still hurt a bit but whatevs...
Also wanted to try out the new lid and it was a nice day after 2 days of rain, so...

Wandered down to the entrance to the Delta greenway and headed in...

Hmmm... looks like the wind must have blown some small trees down, so I pulled most of it off the trail...

Nope... not gonna fight with this one, so lifted the bike over it and carried on...

Until this. A hiker had told me the trail was flooded (he had plastic bags on his feet!), and he was NOT kidding. I was not feeling up to testing this out, so turned around...

Major construction in the area...

Then today with the knee feeling almost 100% I went out for another shorty.
Memories...

If you zoom in on this pic you'll see the name of the company on the van is "Neat Gardening" Bwahahahaha...

Anyway, I feel like the crash is behind me now. Also, last three rides have totaled a little over 102kms on one charge with 36% still left in the tank. That is pretty good IMHO...
You did the right thing in leaving that heavier log! Looks like a good ride, glad you were able to giddy up!! Remember, that helmet is supposed to stay ABOVE your heart at all times when worn ;~))

A thin winter hat will be all you need down to freezing - mine are similar shape to a toque but no thicker than a summer jersey. It really just needs to keep cold air from flowing into your ears.

Had too much to do yesterday to get out for a ride, even though weather was very good.
Today though was was easier to get out after some grocery shopping. The weather was even nicer than yesterday at 17C so no way did I want to miss out.

Heading south for a typical Mud Bay run...

I was anticipating that the three large puddles had turned into one long deep lake, but the first one looked manageable, so I went for it even though someone had written on the sign that it was "axle deep" later...

Second one looked OK as well...

But then... Nope... this one must be the axle deep one, and I was NOT interested in testing the theory after recent rains...

Turned around and went up 64th to Watershed Park...

What a fantastic day for a ride...

Stop for water...

Posing outside the rink...

Joining this thread soon. Waiting for my birthday present a new sleek 10 speed November 13th. I wish I could of kept my old one but spending $500 for repairs was insane.

Too many E bikes now! Why can’t ppl pedal anymore?

Glad to see you'll be joining us soon!
FYI, my bicycle will not move without me pedaling. Numerous ebikes have a throttle, mine does not.
Post pics of the new steed when you get it!

Is that a DTR holding up your bike? Rock on Dave, I feel better that at least one of us got some exercise ;~))

For sure. My bad back makes riding the bike, and golfing, non starters :(
Gotta say... my back is getting worse. I was clearing fallen trees in my back yard and I just can't do it for more than an hour or so.
Just wrecked...
Luckily going for a ride causes no back pain!
I wonder if the right bike/riding position would work for you?

Your birthday is 11/13?

I’ll be very interested to see what some of the ebikers say to this. For me, I’m very capable of pedaling. If I ever consider one, it won’t be too cut the workout, but to cover more ground.

I don’t know what the real serious bikers will say about this, but i have a mountain bike, not a speedster, and when I workout on the bike, I do one hour at 15mph average. I don’t train on the bike, I only got a couple of those in last year, but it kicks my butt. I can hardly walk when I’m done.

Three serious bikers may laugh at it, but I’ve been an athlete all my life and at 64 in a few weeks, it’s a good workout for me. It’s a mountain bike. I do know I could do way better on a road bike . I have a friend with a Trex and I only got 30 minutes before we traded back, but did an easy 30 minutes at 20mph on his bike.
