Hey all. I'm new to the forum and to PRS guitars. I would appreciate some advice. I'm trying to decide between an S2 Mira, S2 Mira Semi-Hollow or an S2 Standard 22. I play in a cover band and we do everything from pop (Daft Punk), rock (Rolling Stones, Cream, Led Zeppelin), to country (Johnny Cash). That being said, I need a versatile guitar. I want to try and put together a more blues focused band as well, for which I would use this guitar too. I'm sure all three are wonderful guitars and each would be a great choice. I haven't played any of the three (they are hard to find in my area), but I will. I just would like some advice from more experienced PRS users as to what would be the best guitar for my needs. Oh yeah, I currently play an SG, which is my favorite, and a Carvin telecaster shaped guitar. I don't really need another guitar. I just want to explore something new. Thanks in advance for your help.

The Mira is the closest PRS to an SG. The semi-hollow Mira would give you a bit of a different sound, and perhaps allow a bit more depth to the sound. It looks like you don't play anything super-high gain, so feedback through the semi-hollow isn't an issue.

On the other hand, the S2 Standard is a good guitar too, probably the most strat-looking (not necessarily sounding) guitar of the S2 line.

To throw a wrench into the works, have you looked at the S2 Vela? That might be just different enough, while covering territory in the SG-tele "space".

Shinksma,

I haven't thought about the Vela. I will check it out though. Thank you for the advice.

Blues future? S2 Singlecut- hardtail! I hate trems and I am not SRV-I'm not even Jimmy, whose only claim to fame is his late brother.

I'd try the Vela or a Mira semi hollow. Should get you some different tones than what you already have and in the genre of what you like.

Go CU22. Will be somewhat in the family of your SG, but sometimes you just got to give the whammy bar a shake!

I have an S2 Mira, and although it took me a while to get to know it, it has become one of my favorites.
I would definitely break it out for playing in the styles that you've mentioned.

Thank you all for all the advice. I'm sure each is a wonderful guitar. I am leaning a bit towards the S2 Std 22, simply because it has a trem bar, b/c as garrett, said, sometimes you just gotta shake it, but I also like the hollow body Mira b/c I've always wanted to explore a hollow body sound. Any way, thanks again, I'll just go play em and see which I like best. I am a bit worried about the width of the necks in comparison to my SG, but that's probably something I could get used to over time (like in a week I hope).
