Hey all, I am looking to add another PRS to my collection. Currently I have DTG, McCarty 594, CU24. I’m considering adding a McCarty but was little unsure of that would be too much of a duplication to the 594 or the DTG.

What are you thoughts on adding a McCarty? Any other model you would consider?

TIA

I'd consider something that doesn't have the traditional 2 humbucker setup. Maybe a Studio, or a Paul's Guitar - each does things that'll be noticeably different from what you have.

Another good option is the Special Semi Hollow, or for that matter, a Hollowbody model.

Sure, the McCarty will sound a little different from your current guitars, but it'll still be in the same ballpark. The ones I mentioned have truly different voices; I'd at least try them at a dealer and see what they do for you.

The idea of the PRS Bolt-on models is a good one, too, if Strats or Teles are something you're interested in.

I praise for chosing a 513 or 509, these are really different models among the PRS stock guitars - versatile, discontinued and second hand only.
Additionally I support @toothace's statement of the ME V, when it comes to current production models, and I add the Fiore.

Maybe not as different as some of the other posts, but I'll always advocate for a Hollowbody. To me, they're just such a great tone, and different enough from solid 594's even though it's the same pickups

As stated by many, my Paul’s sounds different from my 594, Custom 24, and DGT and none of them sound alike. Also different are my Silver Sky with maple and rosewood boards. All of these are core, and all pickups are unique. My SE Swamp Ash has the core TCI pickups, same pickups as my Custom 24 (without the TCI), but the added middle single coil on the SAS provides unique tones. So far for sound, I like the Paul’s the best. I just got the DGT so jury is still out on it. Can’t go wrong with the Paul’s or Silver Sky in my very humble opinion.

Looking at UK prices, I could buy anywhere between 2 - 6 10 top Santanas (used) for what I paid for mine!

Wow, when did they become an investment piece?

When I bought my 86 (pre covid) Dave's appraised it for 1500.00 more than I paid for it.

I'd only guess I could get 3k more than I paid for it today. Not that I'm going to sell it any time soon but it's nice to see those 80s prs guitars going north.

I Would Get A DGT To Go Along With The DTG You Mentioned. ;)

I Would Say A Hollow Body Of Some Sort, A Santana Or A Singlecut Trem Or A Modern Eagle 1
