Is it possible to add an active EMG 85 to get that higher gain on a CE 24 while keeping my neck stock?

If so -- has anyone done this, with wht results?

-- Does the pull out split coil option go away or does it still apply to the neck pick up? If this is a dumb question bc I do not fully understand how the split coil works then please dis-regard.. (or educate me ;))

Thanks!

To the very best of my limited knowledge you cannot mix active EMG pickups with passive pickups. I think the volume and tone pots for each are completely different values along with the battery and preamp making compatibility difficult if not impossible.
I do vaguely remember something about active pickups from a company called Reflex from the UK back in the 90s being able to do this but they are long out of business unfortunately.

Yes it can be done, but there's so many other options out there for bridge pickups that take gain like a champ. Personally with the 8515 neck I'd pair it with the \m/ bridge and call it a day. Thank me later.

And if you must go down that rabbit hole.. start here.

I Have Done It On A Different Guitar Back In The Day. You Just Need To Have Enough Knob Options (At Least In My Case) To Keep Things Organized Better And More User Friendly. I Am Not A Split Coil Or Tone Control User As Much As Others So It Was Possible In My Case.

As Was Said Above By @SinSir - Out Would Be Much Easier To Find A Proper Bridge Pickup And Stay Passive On All Or Go Active On All. I Am Happy To Help With Suggestions If I Know What You Are Going For Music Style Wise And Sound Wise, Gear Wise, Etc. :)

I’ve always felt that the HFS is grossly underrated as a high gain pickup. A used one can be bought for a reasonable price. I honestly don’t like them for other things.

For Some Things They Are Great But In My Experience They Don't Hold Up As Well As Some Other Pickup Choices For The Fast, Tight, Articulate Stop And Go Stuff. Granted, I Typically Play Heavier Stuff Than Most Here On The Forum So I Speak From That MusicAl Place. I Would Feel Better With The HFS For Dio Type Stuff More So Than I Would Be For Cannibal Corpse Type Stuff.

I have both pickups in different guitars (CE24 and EC1000) and would not do that. Technical issues aside, I do not think their sounds are a good match.

And in any case, if you are looking for active sounds, I think the Fluence modern are more versatile and less "active" than the EMGs
