Yesterday I was messing around with my 408 and my Mark Five 25 playing some AC/DC and it sounded just too distorted (high gain), and I have read on the forum here to not use so much gain, so I did a little digging here on YouTube, and I think this guy has it right, and I am going to do some more experimenting next weekend.

Also the secret seems to be "digging in" more on the attack of the strings.
I tend to play with high gain and an easy picking/strum technique, so I am going to have to play with a harder attack :D

I usually find a pushed clean/rhythm channel to be more effective for that tone. Tends to be less compressed, and gives that crisp tone on the high end.

Yeah, I am going to experiment with that new Wampler Plexi Drive Deluxe pedal I picked up awhile back too.
Plus later they dropped Marshal and went with Wizard amps (their guitar tech makes those) and Marshal 4x12 cabs.

Thanks Andy.
I think I will try the clean channel push with the gain way back, then attenuate it with Fryette.
I wish I could crank it up very loud with no attenuation, but that will get the police called very quickly where I live :D
