Hi, how do you feel stock #7 pups? Why they are discontinued?
If the SC 25" plan to upgrade pups, which one you recommend for more harmonics, dynamics and open sounding?
BTW, I play 80's heavy rock.
Thank you very much!

I had a 2003 Singlecut with PRS Dragon 1 pups. They would absolutely nail the requirements you have and be perfect for heavy 80's rock.

I installed the HFS/Vintage set in my boys SE singlecut! Also with the USA drop in electronics with push/pull tone, It sounds great and does metal very well. I can only imagine that with the more resonant bodies of the USA this would sound great too in yours.

The #7's in my 2001 SC aren't going anywhere, but if you must I also like the Dragon 1's. Good luck finding them. You could get a Tremonti set.

Many thanks for reply,
I think I should try this one.
And anyone knows
Dragon 1 pup's treble/mid/bass EQ distributed?
Is it bright or bassy?
Also like to know how about DGT pickups, is it also good on SC? compare to Dragon series pups?
Thanks!

Dragon I's bridge position is HOT.....most are about 19K and the neck position is about 10K....so as far as EQ....the are balls to the wall! I tried a set of DGT's in my 20th SC and they were a tad weak for my taste, but they are amazing in my 25th SC245.

My 20th SCT....has RP's in it......perfect for the thinner body!

i have a set of #7s in my se 245 and they rock. i play alot of 80s rock and blues and these things do the job brilliantly and they were a lot cheaper than a set of dragons.

Another good bridge pickup would be the Deep Dish II. However, it's even more rare than the Dragon Is. Honestly, I think the new PRS Metal \m/ pickups would be perfect for you: LINK They're a covered pickup that would look great on your 25" scale Singlecut.

Many thanks for reply!
Can not find a Dragon I and Deep Dish II here at present,
maybe looking for DGT,
Isn't Metal \m/ 15.7k too hot for 80's rock? How about the treble/mid/bass EQ of \m/ ?

Did some searching but still not able to find a Dragon 1 pups here,
If considering switch to bare knuckle, which one is suitable for SC you recommend? Thank you!

Well, if you can accept putting in pickups from other companies...I'd recommend you to take the Super Distortion. They were THE pickups for hard rock back then. :top: Or you can look at the Seymour Duncans, they have the Slash pickups which will work great for 80's rock.
