So I've had my new Zach Myers Semi-Hollow 3 weeks and I'm just now able to finally use it through my rig, er, at least my effect board and head - cab belonged to the studio. Gotta say the new fiddle feels good, nice response and clarity. My band is heading into the studio on the 14th to record our third CD and this particular song I'm a bit conflicted with which fiddle sounds better - the McCarty HB (which is my number one), or the Zach Myers Semi-Hollow. I made this video of three segments of the same section of this particular song of the bridge leading into the solo, solo and chorus section. Would love to hear which one you guys think sounds better for this tune. Thanks, and sorry if ya think the song/my playing sucks :p
I'll try to make a normal demo of these two without band next week after finals are done

I have to admit, across a room, using a built in camera mic, they sound identical to me. I went back and forth a few times and there's no noticeable difference. But, such is the nature of the cheap mics in most video cameras. Any subtlety is lost.

the ZM sounds more mellow to me than the McCarty. I hear more bite and high end in the McCarty. I would pick it for the studio work.

I detect a little more fullness in the lower mids. But it's very hard to tell with this mic and the band playing. 6 of one, half dozen of the other.

When there's a ton of amp distortion, it's hard to hear differences between guitars in a mix anyway.
