COVID is a mass killer. More Americans have died with it than were killed in WW2. So many of us lack historical perspective.

Quite right. Its no secret what the kill rate of covid was. We knew that since the beginning, and the amount of deaths have fallen pretty much in line. Sure, the media hypes things up for headlines, we know that. So do webzines like freedomline, infowars, OAN, but thats why we objectively research and not get caught in the propaganda waves of talking heads who want to sell us iodine for thirty bucks. Conspiracy theories do sometimes turn out to be true, but they are so because there is evidence.

If we were to assume that indeed, the death rates are vastly overestimated by the government, then for what? So we would be mandated to wear cloth on our faces? So Purell can make loads of cash? What would be the reason for these nefarious activities?

He’s a guy who makes a lot of money off of people, by feeding them what they are vulnerable to.

A much more level-headed conspiracy entertainer was Art Bell. Art did it right, without having to stir people up to have a good time.

Wow, that’s particularly apt!

I love Ghost’s Prequelle album, which pretty much describes life in a pandemic. Came out in 2019. It’s not very political, but rather just about the human and faith experiences during the Black Death. Pretty amazing, in terms of timing.

All of the grand conspiracy theories that have gained traction due to the Internet and media the last 25 years fascinate me. Well, the people who buy into them do, anyway.

I’ve always thought that what they have in common is a fear of randomness. Those who embrace conspiracies always—always—seem to need someone or some organization to blame for the unfortunate things in life. It’s an inability to accept that life sometimes just gives us lemons.

In the end, most conspiracies come down to the belief that there’s some Bond-villain organization that sits in its giant high-tech chamber deciding how they want to reorganize the world. It’s comical, other than the fact that people fall prey to the idea and really have their world-views turned upside down and inside out.

All because they need something to blame for the bad crap in life.

Our government is made up of people just like you and I, trying their best to make the world a better place while getting by themselves. I’m a low-level government bureaucrat. I manage a large school district’s building use, trying to make our 20 buildings available to the public when not in use by students. My desire to reorganize society is pretty small. I don’t have the time.

I dont suppose you are familiar with Dunning-Krueger effect? I find many conspiracy theory believers share one major trait: they all think they are experts. Due to this, thier beliefs are thusly insulated because they will always claim to know more than you. It is endlessly fascinating to see how people are allowed to be driven into these things yet feign control over information. Flat Earthers are a special hobby of mine. Every debate is the same stuff, same points, and yet to them their talking points are sophisticated and impossible to debunk even when its been done countless times before.

It’s the old “I’ve-got-the-straight-dope-information-that-they-don’t-want-us-to-have” saw. Some nutter claims credentials as an “expert” and people who parrot him get to feel like an “expert,” too.

An old friend of mine was like that about 9/11. Spent much of his time watching videos and reading websites that all referenced each other. He didn’t have the background to understand that such things aren’t actual research, that a note referred to by “papers” referencing each other isn’t “source material” and that claims of “first-hand accounts” by people who weren’t there are all just fiction.

My favorite self imposed titles I've heard are: "Information Specialist", "Alternative Historian", "Alternative Researcher", "Flat Earth Physics Instructor", "Information Analyst" (emphasis on "anal"), "Disclosure Agent", and my favorite "Sovereign Citizen". How else can you show up to a flat earth debate and quote a yoga instructor in Southeast Asia as your proof. The overconfidence is mind numbing.

You’re attempting to say that without other health issues, no big deal. Well, many, many of us have other health issues. That makes it a big deal. Many have died who haven’t had other issues. That makes it a big deal, too.

And yes, the “truth movement” is just another way to separate people from their money. That, and to sucker them into providing political power. You’ve been used by people who say they’re like you and want to “fight” for you. Well, are you being driven in a limo, flown between your fancy estates, and treated like a tin god? Probably not. You tell me.

Do you have more in common with those of us who have been belittling and teasing you in this thread, or with the people who claim to “fight” for you while slipping their hand in your wallet? You tell me.
If there really is a global conspiracy to bring in a new world order, wouldn't people who exposed that be labeled as crazies and loonies? My experience is they are just like anyone else but they had an awakening to the nature of our world. People who don't want to look into it are actually scared that they will be looked at like a loony. That's ok but just admit that you are fearful and don't want to give up your status in life. As for the truth movement being about just money? Everything you research on the internet is pretty much free. You don't have to buy supplements from infowars.com if you don't want.

Did you see my link on how they rolled back the death numbers on covid? The death rates were inflated to scare you. Then you will beg for the vaccine. Then you have a people who got vaccinated and is now a magnet.

second jab done, at long last, astrazeneca ok, and let's go vaccine passports!
Did you know vaccine passports have been a thing for a very long time? I have 2. One dates back to 1967 the year I was born. As an Air Force Brat, we traveled all over the world. The little yellow book was isdued by the US Dept of Health, and has a record of all my vaccinations as a child. The second one was issued when I joined the military in tthe 80's.

Did you even read the CDC article? The actual thing? The rates were exactly what was expected. And what is the point? "They" want to magnetize people or inflate toilet paper company profits? Come off it laddie. I have the dreaded J&J vaccine and can assure you, I remain non-magnetic, though the ladies often say my personality sure is. *insert laugh track here*

Btw, while as far as I know it is possible for a human to produce a weak magnetic field, its not going to make metallic objects stick to you. About every claimed instance of human magnetization has been proven false, though nothing is impossible, but its implausible. Humans dont even have a mediocre sense of the Earth's magnetic field. We made Google Maps for a reason.

Come to think of it clashcity, I was once into conspiracy circles and thoroughly researched them and even bought their stories. For a time, I listened to people like Michael Tsarion, Santos Bonnacci, Tom Horn, Jordan Maxwell, David Icke. Finally I realized I could not prove any alternative history they promoted and it was indistinguishable from something they pulled from their ass. I also realized nobody agreed on concepts and ideas. At these conspiracy cons, every person has a different story and most are not compatible with each other because its a free for all since there are no models, no rules, no accreditation required.

Ah, flat earthers. Bless their reality denying hearts. Someone has to I guess.
Pretty impossible to have a discussion with people that can't stay on topic and ignore evidence. It's like having a discussion about football and the other guy is obsessed with tiddlywinks. :p
