Just saw that several European PRS dealers (Germany, UK,...) offer a so called PRS A la cart series with Mc Carty, SC245 and Custom 22 models. All seem to have a solid "Mexican Katalox"-neck in common.

Ever heard of this series or of PRS using a solid "Mexican Katalox" neck???

Any info about this special run and neck wood are highly welcome.

Had only seen Katalox on Private Stock previously, but they'd definitely built guitars with it before.

It's becoming a vogue tonewood, and not just for PRS. I think PRS might have previously called it "Mexican ebony" in the past.

Sustain is not only driven by the type of wood. Density/specific weight, the construction of the guitar and so on have impact on sustain.

In this case, Whitecat is using the word "sustainable" in the sense that the wood species is less endangered.

Sustainable in this context means that the growth and maturity of new trees equals or exceeds the harvest.

He's not talking about note sustain.

Absolutely.
From my small point of view: Regarding electrics my approach on woods is first the optical reason, than, once, a supposed tonal nuance.

Not sure if forum rules allow direct links to dealer websites, but the Katalox necks look like milk chocolate :)

How do solid Katalox necks sound?
Like ebony?
