'93 CE 24 vs SE Standard 24

I have a '93 CE 24 which sounds great, though I'm not too happy with the neck. A little too thin for my taste. I tried out a SE Standard 24 which felt much better to play. The neck seemed a little beefier. Though the Pups were disappointing compared to my HFS/Vintage Pups. Also what are the differences in Pup selection between the two. The CE has the 5 way selector, which I find very cumbersome.
What I don't quite get is both are listed as having 'wide thin necks' yet they are very different. (Of course the CE is bolted, the SE is glued (?) What would the other main differences be between the two ?
