I greatly like my 85/15s pickups in a PRS I have. I have some other budget friendly guitars such as an Epi SG that I really like and even a Gretsch import double jet. Those pickups don't even compare to the PRS pickups and with the modest cost of some 85/15s I'm strongly considering a swap out. Given the difference of guitars, could I expect a sound in the "same ballpark" with some 85/15s implants?

85/15s are awesome, aren't they? I can see why you'd want to swap them into your other guitars. Honestly, it's worth a shot. The pickups will definitely make a big difference, but you'll still get some of the character from the guitar itself. I've heard of people putting 85/15s in Epis and getting great results. Gretsch might be a bit trickier, but it's still worth trying. Let us know how it goes if you end up doing the swap!

They're cheap enough. Swap and find out. Don't forget there's several versions of the se 8515S out there. Look at the labels. I think they even say "ver. X" on some of them.

More OD than less....but the 85/15s clean up nicely too on my PRS. I favor the newer sounds versus vintage as well. I like then because they aren't "brittle" like Fender single coils and even more fuller and "full throttle" than Gibson humbuckers. Not heavy metal "full"...but just nice and thick and full frequency.

I guess I should pull the ones I have and see what labeling they might have. They are on an Indonesian 2021 24 standard SE.
Wasn't aware of differences, except maybe pickups older than 7-8 years or so??

That's what I'd do..pull what you have and look at the label. There were some versions with the move from Korea to Indo and on.
