Huh?

Anyone try them yet?

What are they like? What other PRS pups do they remind you of except (fatter, thinner, louder, more articulate, fill in your "except" comparison here)?

I was beginning to think the guitars that I had in my stable were good enough for a while now new pickups Gees

They were mentioned in at least one other thread here.

And someone mentioned that they have them in one of their new builds...ah yes, here in the PS Friday thread:

EDIT: Oh yeah, and a whole thread dedicated to the new Cu24 model with them installed:

Dunno if that helps...

I have been down the road of getting excited about the prospect of new pups after a cool description is released and then have felt let down after trying them. To be honest in terms of the bridge pup I have tried most of them and would not have a problem going bad to the original HFS I bought the gtr with.

The 08 neck pup is great and better than the VB.

I'll wait and try Pete's.....

Ok, we get this from MaPete:

So that was me that mentioned them on another post, I didn't realize there was so little information on the Forum about them. So sorry to the PRS Team if I let the cat out of the bag early.

They are in Paul's latest guitar, they are PAF's, and they sound great. Paul has some upcoming dealer visits, and I would imagine he would be bringing this guitar to play, as he typically does.

They are available in the Private Stock program now, I ordered a guitar with them last week.

Paul described them as higher output than the 5708's, but lower than the 5909's. Both he and I played them clean and with a little crunch through an HXDA Combo in his office. They did sound "between" 5708's and 5909's to my ears, which is great as those two are my favorite PRS pickups. They had the sparkle and chimeyness of a 5708 with a little extra sizzle of brightness (in a good way).

With regards to the mention here of the 5708's in the McCarty Singlecut, Alan/yankeebulldog pulled those out to check them out, they are labeled "5708 R3" on the back, so apparently they are different enough from previous versions to warrant the "R3" designation. I think they sound amazing in the McCarty Singlecuts!

Has anyone actually HEARD them??

I think Pete's the most info we have. They might be great, I love both the 5708 and 5909....I just don't have a need for something in between. I mean if they sound great and they're in a guitar I buy, cool. But unless there's some magic fairy dust that makes me play like a god, I can't say I'll seek them out.

Pete has. He'd be the one to ask.

[FONT=Gill Sans, Gill Sans MT, Myriad Pro, Myriad, DejaVu Sans Condensed, Liberation Sans, Nimbus Sans L, Tahoma, Geneva, Helvetica Neue, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif]Paul's been improving and improving his pickups, so that's the first reason. Also while I am a big fan of the 57/08s, there are times when I'd be able to have just a tad more bite (and there are times I like more mellow). I'd at least like to hear how they sound and respond to how I play.

My next guitar might just have them.

I agree! Paul seems to know what I want better than I do so if he has new pickups I'm sure as hell going to try them.
