Hello out there. This is my first post here and had a question about comparing the PRS 594 semi-hollow to a Special 22 semi-hollow. I am still very much a novice, but I played a 594 semi-hollow a short while ago and thought it had a very distinct sound/feel. I spend most of my playing time with a Telecaster (I play mostly classic rock: Bruce, Tom Petty, U2, etc.) but I really liked that semi-hollow sound. I was originally going to look for a Gibson 335 but the PRS had such a cool sound, and it was so beautiful. Again, either of these guitars is way beyond my current paying ability (I believe the Special 22 has a tremolo bar which i don't think I would ever use). I was pretty set on the 594, but then I came across a Special 22 that was just the most spectacular guitar, visually (at least to me) and was wondering could that guitar give me that same depth or resonance that I heard in the 594? Of course the SSH is also over a $1000 more, but the cost is not the rate limiting choice (that would be me). I just was curious how distinct these two semi-hollow guitars might sound.

Apologies for the long first post.

So I made the jump and purchased a 2018 McCarty 594 in faded whale blue. As a new member, I do not believe I can post any pics yet. The guitar should be here next week. I’m super-excited about the purchase.

Congrats on a super cool guitar and one of my favorite finishes. Tell us about it when you get it and be sure to post some photos after you are authorized.

Congrats! Please feel free to post a "New Guitar Day" (NGD) story once you've got the guitar. Faded whale blue is an absolute classic PRS color, too. Nice choice.
