594 58/15 Pickup Height

I got a 2021 594 used and I’m not sure the pickups were setup properly. I’m having a hard time getting them dialed in…Can someone let me know what heights they have on their 594’s pickups?

PRS Factory Humbucker Pickup Height Specifications:​

Once the action, intonation and neck relief are set to spec and the instrument is tuned to pitch, with the high and low E strings depressed at the last fret, measurement is taken from the bottom of the string, to the top center of the pickup bobbin or cover.

Treble Pickup

2.5/32” [1.9mm] on the treble side.

3.5/32” [2.8mm] on the bass side.

Middle Pickup

3.5/32” [2.8 mm] on the treble side.

4.5/32” [3.6 mm] on the bass side.

Bass Pickup

3.5/32” [2.8 mm] on the treble side.

4.5/32” [3.6 mm] on the bass side.


From the PRS website. I'd say this is a good starting point, then adjust based on what sounds best to you. Don't overlook the individual screw poles too - they can be very useful for balancing out string-to-string volume (I'm looking at *you*, B string!)

That is awfully low on the pick-ups
I can't even get the pick-ups close enough with out the pick-ups bottoming out

Joe Walsh has a video to how he sets the pickups on his LP.

It was interesting.

How does one bottom out screws when raising pickups? Do you want the pickups closer to the string?
