Hi folks, been interested in some variety recently and never tried any guitars with 59/09 or the 58/15LT. I been out of the loop on specs and new models for a while and wanted to see which core guitars came with the 59/09 and 58/15LT.

I’ve got core guitars with 57/08, original 408 siggy, DGT and Tremontis and love them all, would the 59/09 and or the 58/15LT be too similar to what I have or worthwhile to add?

Thanks

I absolutely love 5909 pickups. They are good for light to heavy OD tones. My 2011 cu24 has them from factory and they are incredible.

8515/ 5815/5815LT pickups are good as well but completely different. The neck of any of these versions is to die for. My LT neck is the absolute best neck PU I've ever played....period.

Bridge to me is a finicky cat. Really need to spend a lot of time dialing it in and getting a good balance with neck and all splits.

To me these pickups work better for clean to medium OD.

I have a set of LTs in my older McCarty and I really like them, just took a while to get there.

The LTs will be different from what you have for sure but the 5909s will be simular to 5708s but still different enough to worth owning.

Also......this place is full of enablers so..........

As mentioned above there’s quite a few years or dealers runs with 59/09’s in Custom 24’s. I also have a CE24 Semi Hollow with 59/09’s dealer run same $ out the door as a regular run. I believe there are CE24 with them also. I have nothing with 58/15’s yet! I’m afraid to go down that rabbit hole I know it’s only a matter of time. 57/08’s followed very closely by 59/09’s are my fav PRS offerings. And the OG VB and HFS in my older CU24’s are fine by me though I have changed out a few of them with a Duncan Pearly Gates in the bridge.

Thank you both, much appreciated, so basically the 59/09 has more bite/modern sound than the 57/08 and different enough to make sense owing both

Did the 59/09 only come in the custom 24 or did they come in different guitars too?

They Came In Various Guitars If I Am Not Mistaken...I Have A Couple Of Custom Runs That Had Them When They Normally Wouldn't. The 59/09 Is A Nice Pickup. I Like It Much Better Than The 57/08. A Tremonti Bridge And 59/09 Neck is Nice As Is A \M/ Bridge And 59/09 Neck. I Have.A DGT With A 59/09 Bridge And A Grissom Neck Pickup That Works Great As Well.

Think of 5909 as more of the 5708. Best way I can describe it. I wouldn't call a PRS interpretation of something '59 modern. The 5909 bridge kills. I prefer he 5708 neck but wouldn't change the set of 5909 in my Cu24 for anythig.

There was a short while that PRS was putting out a hotter 5708 pickup in the accessory store. Those things were awesome and a bridge pickup I have is very very close to sounding like some of my 5909 bridge pickups.

The 5815LT are great! I absolutely love the neck pickup. The middle position sounds great too. The bridge, for me is lacking some push, but it doens sound nice.

And yes! It's worth it to add guitars with both of those pickups to your stable.

Thank you, do you know if the 59/09 came in any single cuts too from factory?

That’s quite versatile, never thought the 59/09 would go well with a tremonti as well as a dgt, I love both guitars very much so it sounds like it’s a must now

Any experience with the 58/15lt?

Yes, They Are Nice As Well. They Are Versatile And Do Well With A Lot Of My High Gain Stuff. I know Several People That Like Them For Metal Stuff Which Isn't what They Are Aimed At But sonically They Work Well With Certain Amps For That Stuff...Rectifiers And Herbert's Especially In My Experience.

Thank you, I absolutely love the 57/08 so that’s great to hear about the 59/09, just need to see if they ever came in a singlecut from factory

So the 59/09 is more bitey than the 57/08 and the 58/15lt are more vintage?

Welcome

That's closer to a description I'd use.

I can't think of a factory SC with 5909, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen. The 5909 bridge would be killer in a SC. I debated for a while on swapping one into my SC58. I just couldn't do it. The 5708 are so perfect in there now.

I can say the 5909 bridge pairs just right with a 5708 neck and a LT neck. The 5708 bridge goes great with a LT in the neck too. I'm a pickup swapper and mix and matcher. The PRS accessory store sells the 5909. You could always pick up a SC and swap pups.

That may just be the solution to get into a sc with the 59/09 swapped as it seems to have never been made by prs, I too wouldn’t want to do that to my sc58 as I love that thing so may have to find a suitable donor

I’ve got a MIK Singlecut stoptail with 59/09’s and it sounds great! I only split the bridge pickup but after a conversation with SinSir I think it would have made more sense to split the neck. I really didn’t need to split both, I had a 50% chance and oh well I’ll be getting the soldering iron out lol.

I have a 2014 McCarty SC245 that has 59/09 pickups so they must have been available in other models.

I have a 2011 wood library stripped 58 from a short run that Brian’s guitars did, with 59/09’s. It absolutely screams with gain, more than any other guitar I have, have played, or have even heard. It’s not real good at clean, but it’s insane in the membrane with gain.
