Hi guys,

I'm just after some info on what pickups would be best suited in a Private Stock SC245. Basically it's a choice between the 57/08's or I can have the 58/15's with the push pull coil tap put in if i want.

I just wondered if anyone has tried either sets of pickups in their SC245's and what their thoughts were on them?

Cheers
Paul

Personally I liked the 57/08's better...but that could've also been due in part to the configuration differences between the two SC's I had to A/B to each other (58/15's were in a P245 with a Maple Neck).

Are you getting a new PS made? If so you can ask for extra p'up sets to be made for the guitar incase you wanted to switch them out...so if you ever wanted some hard to find ones, now is the time to ask.

Thanks for the reply, I'm not having a PS made no, its a choice between 2 models in the faded mccarthy finish. The guitar with the 57/08's in has a matching headstock veneer and other one from a different guitar store hasn't got the matching head stock veneer but the store has kindly agreed to put the 58/15's in with the push pull on, which I thought was a nice touch. I just wondered what the differences were that's all.

I've got a McCarty Smokeburst with the 57/08s and a P245 Private Stock with the 58/15s. Totally different guitars, but the string to string clarity and evenness of the 58/15s is amazing. The 57/08s are a little too mid-heavy in the McCarty for my taste...

I did prefer the 58/15's to be honest, I've heard them before in a 594 and that sounded awesome. Did you guys prefer the matching headstock veneer though?

I've attached a pic of both guitar for you all to have a look at.

I vote for the one with headstock veneer...like that top better too.
I'd prefer the 58/15's as well...

I also prefer the headstock veneer, and I much prefer that flame as well.
Can't say I have a preference regarding the pickups. I have, and like both. Just different. What is that weird British proverb... Horses for courses?!?!?!?
