So in a thread on another forum it was mentioned that there is a new PRS pickup called the 58/15.

Anyone have any info?

At the factory the other day during Experience, heard there was a new pup in the works. No other info, though.

58 +15 = 73

1973 is widely considered as the beginning of the disco era, so these are disco pickups.

I don't know if it is my wishful thinking or deductive reasoning, but perhaps the pickups from the single cut McCarty PS. which are 58"s with a twist, are going to make their debut into the core line or a limited edition. They are some awesome pickups and 15' is the 30th anniversary. Perhaps not a bad idea to have 58-15's in a 30th anniversary release. Whaaaaaaaat!

Can we just simplify this to 60/15 = 4? Complex fractions in the morning is NOT cool.

Ugh... enough with the vintage style pickups. I'm assuming that is what it is. What PRS needs right now is an alnico magnet medium output pickup. We have low output (58s and 59s) and high output (metal) but nothing in the middle as far as the new designs go.

Possibly so, in which case I'm in bizniz because I already have that McCarty Singlecut! Phenomenal pickups.

For sure! One way or the other time is going to run out on those PS McCarty SC's. My problem is I want it the way it comes with the vintage vibe with the rose wood headstock and all. Then I think about the flametop and want a quilt top and other color. I cant seem to work this out. It will likely be my only PS, so I get torn with what I should do. Should the 58/15's happen and they turn out to be what is in the McCarty Singlecut (my speculation only), it will be a win win. I can hope for a SC245 with these 58/15's and keep the PS McCarty SC vintage vibe, and still order a PS the way I want. This is wishful thinking of course. Time will certainly tell! One way or the other PRS'H gets my money and I get a wonderful instrument or two, or three, or four! Giddy Up!

Deep Dish 2 reissue? I'm in.

I don't consider 59/09s low output.
+1. DGTs and 59/09s both fall into the medium output alnico category Drew mentioned. For that matter, my Mira bridge pickup measures over 9K. You can't go much higher than 10K without switching to 43 gauge wire.

The 59/09 is a somewhat overwound PAF, as are the Miras. Neither really gives the pre amp any jolt. I guess its all relative. I know a lot of the guys here use 2 rock type amps and generally stay in a lower gain territory. So, 59/09 would feel like it has punch in that context. The old dragon 2s are more of what I consider a medium output bucker. Its not a JB that can send a pre amp into meltdown but you get that nice extra bit of overdrive through a higher gain amp, but the alnico magnet retains some of that earthy warmth.
