I'm checking out a 2017 McCarty 594 and noticed a few things about the pickups in the picture. The individual screws for the strings on the pickups were silver not gold as I've seen in other McCartys and no 58/15 LT identifier on the chrome cover of the pup. Is this normal for that year of McCarty?

Could be silver or gold. Is the rest of the hardware silver, like tuners?

Yes there was brief oversight without the etching. PRS offered an exchange. Sometimes the etching is there but difficult to see in photos as well

The rest of the hardware is silver and brass. My concern is making sure the pups weren't swapped out.

It's a valid concern..the rest of the guitar is hybrid? Silver and brass

Pics or link?

The saddles should be brass, unless piezo. What about the tuner knobs?

Yes the rest of the guitar is hybrid. Being from 2017 I expect differences to the 2022 McCarty 594. Is has the phase III locking tuners as opposed to the vintage which may actually be a benefit. I really like the sound of the new McCarty 594 and wonder if the "tuned capacitive inductance" on the new 58/15 LT's is better than the non TCI pups from the 2017 era.

If it's hybrid, it should have gold screws on the pickup pole pieces but if it's only brass saddles and bridge studs it's not considered hybrid.

I prefer the open gear phase III myself.

There are benefits to TCI but it wouldn’t stop me from buying non TCI or drive me to sell my non TCI guitars or pickups. There have a been a few tweaks of the 58/15LT depending on model and year.

Ok, I guess it's not hybrid as the pickup pole piece screws are not gold. Funny, it's that which had me thinking the pickups might have been replaced as I thought all 594's were hybrid. Aside from the tuners and non TCI pickups do you know of any other differences from the 2017 vs the 2022 version of a 594?

They're not all hybrid.

The finish is different now with nitro over CAB

I’ve had 2 guitars with 58/15 LT pickups from 2016-2018 era. Both had plain colored screws. But both were etched, although one was so worn I had to polish the cover to read it.

I wouldn't read too much into the silver pole pieces. My very early Core 594 (a '16) has silver pole pieces and tuning keys. The tuning pegs, saddles, and bridge and tailpiece studs are bare brass. No gold anywhere on it, so I think it's not hybrid. That may have been a feature of the 594 10-tops at the time.

My 2017 WL 594 came with a Dimarzio in the bridge, and a spare 58/15LT in the case.
When it came time to put the 58/15 LT in I discovered it was only 2-wire from a HB.
I found a local luthier that could split/tap it and install it. Happy!
What I didn't realize until this thread is that the original 58/15 neck pup has Smoked chrome screws in it to match the rest of the hardware!
Oh, and it's not etched, but the newer one is...

Aren’t all 58/15 LT 2 wires?
Killer pickup rings!
You know what needs to happen? LT neck pickups with a MT bridge. That would be cool.

Lol no worries. I’ve only In the past few months started installing my own. The 58/15 LT have a braided shielded wire to ground and then the hot wire inside it is hot. The random white wire is the coil split. It certainly threw me off when i first saw it. I understand the old school feel of braided wires…but I say screw it. Modern 4 wire setups are a lot easier to solder!

I can no longer remember what the wires looked like. Next string change maybe I'll take a peek!
