I'm just curious as to how many different variations of the 57/08 were produced.
I have a zebra, uncovered, rounded bobbin set with black and gold stickers on the bottom. I also have another covered set with 57/08TM etched on top and white stickers on the bottom marked Rev C.

Could anyone tell me some of the differences over time?

I have non-etched, "57/08" etched, "57/08 TM" etched, and uncovered, squabbins. They are all in very different guitars, and I haven't swapped them between guitars.

So, basically I'm no help! :vroam:

I'm just wondering if these magic pickups have changed in their overall character over the time they've been available.
If they are still under development, do the early ones vary more in tone?

Wait, so a 57/08 gets to be called a 57/08 whether it's covered or uncovered, but the 85/15 / 58/15 need to be called two different things? So not fair. :goodnight:

I have a set of etched but no TM 57/08s in my CU24 Core 10 top from 2010. It was a special run I think.

Those pickups are REALLY good PAFs but I get to thinking I need something with more balls in that type of guit box. And then I'd put the 57/08s in my S2 SC SH.

I'm thinking 58/15s. It'd be cool if I could score a 59/09 set for a decent price though too.

The metal pickups might be overkill for me. I'm a classic rock/hard rock/modern country guy.

Walk over to your amp, see that knob named "gain"? Turn it clockwise... Instant "more balls"! There's been a lot of metal recorded with pickups not as hot as what you have. A lot of that music happens to be in nearly every list of "songs that changed rock ans roll".

To each his own, my friend.

I use clean amps and pedals and I like slightly hotter pickups that still have a vintage vibe. There is a reason they make 57/08s and 59/09s and \m/ metal pickups.
