57/08 bridge models are usually 8900 to 9300 ohms. The 7800 ohm version I have has the etched cover. Is there that much variation? I’ve measured it in and out of the guitar. It’s not a TCI version…. It does sound quite good but not quite as punchy as my other hotter 57/08’s

The 57/08 is notoriously all over the map. I have a non etched bridge in my McC that reads about the same as yours (7.9), and another non etched version that reads about 8.5. I reached out to customer service and suggested they might have accidentally put a neck PU in the bridge, but I was given to understand it is within tolerances.

I think that is kind of weird, especially since the specs seem to be around what you quote. Both of my bridge PUs were most likely made within a month of each other (serial nrs of the guitars) and are the early early versions. I doubt they did a revision within that time frame, withing a couple of months after launch, but that is up to PRS I guess. Consistency is one of the many great things about PRS, but the 57/08 is quite the exception.

Guitars sound great by the way, and the lower output one suits the McC very well.

5708 can read all over and often more in the lower range. Still fantastic sounding. I raise the bridge quite a bit more than usual and/or more tweaking of pole pieces. One of the reasons I like to pair with 5909 but even those can be on the lower side than expected

Also note that temperature can have an affect on ohm readings. I split time between 2 places and often a third. My readings vary from region to region.

As others have said, they are all over the place. Some like the "hotter" versions and some like the "cooler" ones.
I'm in the low output camp and have a few sets of the early ones.
My KL33 is stock with 7.91/8.10
Another set in my SE Bernie 7.94/7.99
Also have 7.65/7.93

To me they have a nice mellow tone but plenty of bite when you want.

I have a Metal bridge that PRS says is supposed to meter 15.9 and mine is 14.6. That is a difference of 8%. I'm not sure what PRS standards are for winding but that's a big variance.
My Metal Bridge, in my 24-08, measures about 14.7 also. I thought it was just mine..

I had to go and check
My Cu24 Floyd is 16.5

Sounds Like A 57/0-No Model...Highly Coveted. ;)

I just received another 57/08 to go in the bridge of my other S2 594 McCarty….
It’s new…A TCI version and this one measures 8500 ohms…. All over the place as others have said..

With a pickup that’s that hot, 8% under isn’t really going to make much difference… there are many more factors at play besides an impedance measurement..

OK, so I forgot I have a new 57/08 treble in my box of extra pickups. I put a meter to it to compare to the results here...

That's my favorite 5708. Much more like a covered 5909. They've even changed that release recently. The newest 5708 from the accessory store is 8.9 now for a while the one before was 9.3.
