513s

Wow, some real beauties here! I've never tried one but now I guess I'll have to.

That top rocks...as does the maple neck. Nice one.

If you need to have birds, 'Modern' birds we're my favorite ('cause they don't look like birds).

I sold my BRW 2006 513 (I know, don't tell me), but one of the things I miss the most are the modern birds.

Call me crazy...

I want to introduce my 513 to the audience:

I purchased this guitar at Wildwood Guitars in Louisville, CO, USA in 2011.

It´s in black gold colour with a 10T quilted maple top.

The production line specs in 2011 featured Phase II tuners and the 513 compensated nut (introduced with the 2005 513 Rosewood).

In the electrical compartment was the PCB (printed circuit board) installed which is typical for the core line 513 models.

513 manufactured by the Private Stock Division had been shipped with hand wiring of the electronics. In Paul´s opinion - and it was announced on PRS homepage sometime ago - deliveres a more transparent sound. Anyways.

In 2014 I won a wild card visiting Musikmesse 2014 in Frankfurt, Germany.

Walking around the halls I met Paul by accident on one of the escalators. We had a nice talk, he signed my 513 compartment cover.

I asked him about future improvements of the 513 model.

He told me that the core line starting with production line 2014 will get the hand wiring instead of the PCB for the best sound you could imagine.

After our talk I was endowed by a modification from PCB to hand wiring for free if I ship my 513 to factory.

Yeah, and I did it. Thank you Paul for being such a generous person!

I was not disappointed.

In my ears in switch position 2 and 4 it has got a hint of more Strat in the tone.

Maybe you know Crazyparts for parts for guitars for character heavy relic or heavy aged.
Only a few know that Crazyparts produces officially wooden parts for the Private Stock Division.

For "pimping" my 513 in a restrained manner I bought a set of ebony tuner buttons for the Phase III and East Indian rosewood (fitting to my EIRW fretboard) tips for the blade switches and and tremolo arm.

Wow! That's awesome. Good story and info. I didn't know they were hand-wiring these now. Too cool.

Thanks Egads!

I don´t know why any improvements were kept secret.
And it´s not listed in the spec sheet indeed.

And the customers didn´t take a screwdriver for opening the compartment to sneak inside.

I´m conviced that PRS started implementing hand wiring to the core line 513 models in the second half of 2013.

My 2011 513 has got the production line specs of 2012 (Phase III and new PRS nut) and assembly was finished in late summer of 2011.

Aswell: NICE!

The Swamp Ash one! Be aware of Dave Weiner :flute:

Did anyone of you check the increasing/decreasing of the MAP of the 513 (10T as custom order included)? Its amazing.

Starting in 2005 with 6,400 USD (513 Rosewood),
2006 ? (513 Rosewood)
2007 4,850 [513 (w/ mahogany neck)]
2008 5,070 [513 (w/ mahogany neck)]
2009 6,276 [513 (w/ mahogany neck)]
2010 5,575 [513 (w/ mahogany neck), 25th Anni]
2011 5,575 (513 Maple Top)
2012 5,862 (513 Maple Top)
2013 5,862 (513 Maple Top)
2014 3,799 (513 Maple Top)
2015 3,999 (513 Maple Top)

@jchix: Absolutely astonishing 513. Is it a BRW neck?

@xjbebop: Dave Weiner is to be blame for my decision buying a 513. Once checking YT for Steve Vai clips a clip named Riff of the week was depicted aside. He held a PRS up which I never had seen before. So I was curious about this model.
I was infected by the Swiss army officer knife kind of guitar. Therefore I speak well of Mr. Weiner.

@ViperDoc: Fancy Avatar :D

You asked for pictures with a natural or realistic shade of my guitar. I collected a few different pics of the guitar taken inhouse with artificial light or outside in the garden.
There have been done no image processings.

Outside w/ German whisky in the garden:

The same situation likewise before (with flash light; I had have the purpose selling my RG, but the proposal was too low indeed. I kept it.):

Last but least in the shining light of the basement:

Depending on the light the 513 shade goes from brown to amber or burning flames (predominance of red).
