Oh boy! LOL

I used to be in a sports forum. The problem quickly becomes, EVERYONE thinks they know EVERYTHING about sports. Guys who couldn't make the Jr. High football team will question the coaching moves of D1 major colleges coaches, or even pro coaches, because their team lost and they blame it on the coach. They have NO knowledge of what they practiced that week, how that running back feels at the end of a game, nor do they understand that sometimes the other team makes a lucky call on defense and has guys in the right place...

But worse, is guys running their mouths about their team vs. yours, etc. And, as I've always said, you can pretty much say anything to anyone when you're hiding behind your computer screen. :p

(boring story edited out)

I should have known better than to post that. I wasn’t talking about the good natured “my team is better than yours” stuff. I mean bash fests that get nasty and personal insults. And whole groups of people ganging up on one or two from another team. Just stupid stuff.

Bruh, I was just riffing off your avatar!

Yeah, I just re-read the post and figured it wasn’t clear about what really causes issues on those sports forums. LOTS of kids in there acting like kids. :) (Which is far worse than, you know, us adults acting like kids. :p:p:p)

Sorry all, I sent it back and could not figure out how to delete the thread so just dotted it. The pictures made it look way better stunning even than in person. After a couple of days really looking forward to its arrival when I opened the case I was so disappointed. I walked away from it for a couple of hours then gave it a play and liked it from the sound, playability and features so I decided to keep it (hence the post) and hoped the colour would grow on me then shortly after posting decided I cannot keep it as I am not happy with the look in person. I thought the thread would just get shuffled down the pile not 30 replies... I will say also whats with the new strap buttons? The string tree style that has been used for so long looked great but the new ones look so plain.

We've had several people freak out on here because they criticized something about a guitar or a service question and didn't get blanket support. A dislike button would likely send some of them over the edge.

I'm guessing more buttons than merely Like and Dislike are necessary. Here are a few suggestions:

A "You're My Pal, But Why On Earth Did You Post This?" button;

A "What Makes You Think You Even Have A Clue As To What You're Talking About?" button;

A "Troll" button;

And because I have so many posts, lots of people would probably like a "Put A Sock In It, Les" button. Go ahead - press that button!

[Put A Sock In It, Les!]

My wife often presses that button before I even get the second word out. :p

I'll wait here while y'all post, "Put A Sock In It, Les."

How about fans of one team ganging up on fans of that same team? The site I'm on has one guy who pretty much constantly posts that the Penguins should get bigger and tougher. If he posts, there's a group that just jumps all over him and nit picks every little thing in his post. But if he doesn't post? They post about him anyway. Drives me nuts - I've asked for an ignore button like we have here (one of the greatest inventions known to man - so thanks for talking me into using it, @sergiodeblanc!)

The thing in that forum I was in was worse than just nit picking or even casual insults. It got to real bashing, name calling and even a personal challenge or two (which led to my deleted story. LOL)

Les, you forgot the "who in the he77 let you buy a tube amp?" button. :D

Yeah - the escalation happens in this forum, too. I used to comment a lot - I rarely do now. Once that site hit a certain subscriber level, it was like critical mass. It went from a small site feel, with conversations and discussions to being just like the internet at large. I knew I was done when someone asked about a call during a hockey game I was at - the play happened right in front of me, so we had a clear view of, plus the same situation had happened to my son in a high school game. Someone bitched about a penalty call and I said what happened. He said that wasn't the rule. I copied and pasted the rule from the NHL rule book that specifically described the situation that had just happened. He said, "That's not the rule."

I had a guy and a few of his friends, troll me everywhere I went in that forum. They finally started directly challenging me to a basketball game. When the main one kept after me, I said "you'd be embarrassed in front of your friends if you got beat by an old man." I shouldn't have said that. LOL He wouldn't leave me alone after that. Asked me how old I was, and I told him. Then he really wouldn't leave me alone. I got so frustrated I told him to bring a $100 bill and I'd play him right now. That led to the deleted story. :) And after the deleted story, I created a new user name but soon decided that it was too much of a clown show to waste my time on. The moderators would come in and do stuff like a week after it happened. If at all. :rolleyes:
