Lighten up, Francis.Oh boy! LOL
I used to be in a sports forum. The problem quickly becomes, EVERYONE thinks they know EVERYTHING about sports. Guys who couldn't make the Jr. High football team will question the coaching moves of D1 major colleges coaches, or even pro coaches, because their team lost and they blame it on the coach. They have NO knowledge of what they practiced that week, how that running back feels at the end of a game, nor do they understand that sometimes the other team makes a lucky call on defense and has guys in the right place...
But worse, is guys running their mouths about their team vs. yours, etc. And, as I've always said, you can pretty much say anything to anyone when you're hiding behind your computer screen.
(boring story edited out)
Phew - thought I was going to click the dot and get Rickrolled…
Sorry man, she's my favorite actress.Dude, c'mon - family forum!
I should have known better than to post that. I wasn’t talking about the good natured “my team is better than yours” stuff. I mean bash fests that get nasty and personal insults. And whole groups of people ganging up on one or two from another team. Just stupid stuff.Lighten up, Francis.
Bruh, I was just riffing off your avatar!I should have known better than to post that. I wasn’t talking about the good natured “my team is better than yours” stuff. Yeah, I just re-read the post and figured it wasn’t clear about what really causes issues on those sports forums. LOTS of kids in there acting like kids. (Which is far worse than, you know, us adults acting like kids. )Bruh, I was just riffing off your avatar!
Actually, I probably should have used this avatar in the sports forum! LMAO!!!!Bruh, I was just riffing off your avatar!
I thought the thread would just get shuffled down the pile not 30 replies...
We've had several people freak out on here because they criticized something about a guitar or a service question and didn't get blanket support. A dislike button would likely send some of them over the edge.

How about fans of one team ganging up on fans of that same team? The site I'm on has one guy who pretty much constantly posts that the Penguins should get bigger and tougher. If he posts, there's a group that just jumps all over him and nit picks every little thing in his post. But if he doesn't post? They post about him anyway. Drives me nuts - I've asked for an ignore button like we have here (one of the greatest inventions known to man - so thanks for talking me into using it, @sergiodeblanc!)
I'm guessing more buttons than merely Like and Dislike are necessary. Here are a few suggestions:
A "You're My Pal, But Why On Earth Did You Post This?" button;
A "What Makes You Think You Even Have A Clue As To What You're Talking About?" button;
A "Troll" button;
And because I have so many posts, lots of people would probably like a "Put A Sock In It, Les" button. Go ahead - press that button!
[Put A Sock In It, Les!]
My wife often presses that button before I even get the second word out.
I'll wait here while y'all post, "Put A Sock In It, Les."
The thing in that forum I was in was worse than just nit picking or even casual insults. It got to real bashing, name calling and even a personal challenge or two (which led to my deleted story. LOL)
As the great American philosopher Ron 'Tater Salad' White says...
Isn't is amazing what a single dot can start ?Sorry all, I sent it back and could not figure out how to delete the thread so just dotted it.
