2xNGD - ME-V and DGT

Wow! Congratulations! I'm curious how you would compare / contrast the ME-V and the DGT. I have a few DGTs and am waiting on a Paul's guitar. I believe the ME-V and Paul's guitar have the same neck and bridge pickups?
The ME-V and DGT are completely different animals to me. To me, the DGT very much goes the Gibson route and the ME-V and I got along much better once I started treating it more like a Strat. I know that likely sounds weird. Curious if anyone else has felt that way about these guitars.

I also have a Paul's and the ME-V is different enough that I'm good having both. I didn't actually set out to have both, but I acquired an ME-V in a trade and liked it so much that I decided it was a guitar I always needed to have around. :)

Hot guitars! but for what that ME must have cost it should have at max a 2 piece center seem back... 3 piece does not look great

I had a Fuchsia Sparkle Luke II. :) I never found myself reaching for the Luke, though, and in the end, the Luke found another home. Ironically, it was part of the trade for my PRS Experience ME-V that I now will be selling. (It's not in the family pic above.)
They pop but I hear you since I've done the exact same thing with the Luke as well.

I think the DGT is the ticket. Thicker body, two volumes for that lovely middle position mixing (huge bridge sound) and lovely split tones. Still have the trem when you want it without commiting to a LP copy or anything it's just a really well thought out machine. I hope you like it.

I was wondering that too. I believe its been stated elsewhere even PRS doesn't have access to slabs of swamp ash that wide and thick but again, for the price?

I'm really digging the DGT. The pickups are what REALLY make it for me.

Eh. It doesn't bother me in the least. To each their own. I know it's not as nice as my Paul's PS back but it was also half of that (and I got the Paul's at a fantastic price!) :)

I also don't see the back when I'm playing...so there's that. :)

Not intending to offend you're blessed either way. That must indicate the price and rarity of those cuts if it's reserved for private stock. I've only seen two piece bodies split down the middle. You're right, you don't notice when you're playing.

Too bad they don't sell the DGT pickups. Anyway I think you got a real winner there. It blends so many different guitars in a really thoughtful way.

Oh, I'm not offended at all! It just doesn't bother me. :) I mean, I just bought an opaque top guitar from a company renown for their beautifully figured tops and amazing translucent paints.

I always joked with a buddy about who would buy a Wood Library with the most amazing selections of wood and not get an amazing top and paint -- apparently the answer in the end is me. :) There was something about this run from Brian's that had me from the start. I'm glad I finally ended up with one!

They'd likely make a killing if they sold the DGT pickups...and the Silver Sky pickups. But I get why they don't.

Some people have mentioned the swamp ash PRS sound a little different than the hog ones. I think with the MEV it would be a pleasing difference if you were looking for a brighter sounding beast. Do you notice any differences compared to your experience model? Also do you think the pickups in the MEV are different than in the Paul's?

Something about the opaque top with the natural back and sides that really makes it pop, I'm with you there. Glad you got one and are enjoying it! Also the DGT! Imagine an opaque key lime DGT haha

I was texting with a buddy about it after I A/B'd the Key Lime and the Experience:

"I A/B’d with the Experience MEV. Not a huge difference but it does seem to be a hair brighter. I really like the neck and board on this one."

I think I like the feel and slightly brighter sound a little more on the Key Lime. Not that it's just completely different...it's just enough. I am extremely pleased.

Brians did do other Key Limes, but sadly no DGT. I can't find the pic of the other Key Lime MEV with the rosewood or ebony board anymore, though, except on their instagram. I'd totally trade my Eriza Verde DGT for a Key Lime one! That Vela is gorgeous but I'm not sure could have made myself pay 10-11k for it. :)

Oy. I made the mistake of Googling and Eddies has a metallic lime DGT with swamp ash and a torrefied neck. After the last few years mostly playing EBMM with their oil and wax finished necks, I find myself wishing for more similar necks.

I must close that tab immediately! :)

Yikes. And Lark has one in Seafoam. CLOSE CLOSE CLOSE! :)

I didn't need another ME-V but I'd been wanting a particular one since I saw it on Brian's Guitars site awhile back and it came up on Reverb last week. So the Key Lime Wood Library is home. I also traded for a DGT a couple of months ago and never posted so here's a 2fer. :)

Sigh. Now I really should sell the PRS Experience ME-V...if I can make myself do it. :)

I've somehow become the green guitar guy. This is my 6th and 7th green guitar...though to be fair, one of those is for sale, so it doesn't count, right? :)
