22 vs 24: tuning?

My custom 24 his only one problem: open chords sound out of tune. Anybody know why?
I suspect that it's because the slight pressure from my left hand bends the neck a little bit. If that's true, the problem should be reduced on a 22 because the length of neck protruding from the body is shorter; hence less leverage. Before I drive 100 miles to try them side-by-side, does anyone have advice on this? - Thx.

I really don't think you would find any difference between a 22 and 24 regarding that effect. With the same scale, the frets separation will be the same for any given chord and the pressure you apply will be the same.

I'd be looking at how hard you're pressing the strings, fret a chord and compare fretted notes to open notes and see if they're "in tune" (obviously you'll be tuning in major 3rds, perfect 5ths). If they're sharp, try pressing a little lighter (but still being able to hear the notes ring clearly). If that works, try and burn that about of finger pressure into your muscle memory.

Hope that helps
