2016 CE Tuners

Greetings Friends... just wondering. I was thinking of looking into replacing the "tuning keys" with something different than the chrome one. Not the tuners themselves, the buttons? Hopefully you know what I mean...

Where can I find the right ones for a slight mod for my CE?

I looked online to see whether the tuners have screws at the back. Since the ones I looked at have no screws, I am taking an educated guess that they use the current S2 tuners (https://us.prsaccessories.com/collections/tuners/products/prs-s2-locking-tuners-set-of-6). That means these are direct replacements - https://us.prsaccessories.com/collections/tuners/products/black-plastic-tuner-buttons-s2 or these https://us.prsaccessories.com/collections/tuners/products/pearloid-tuner-buttons-s2.

Not sure what non-PRS buttons will fit as I never tried replacing mine.

Thanks for the reply! Mine is a 2016 CE and the tuner heads have screws.

They’ll have black screws on the top to lock in the strings. Having the screws there means they are either S2, Phase II or Phase III tuners. If you look at the back of the headstock and you see open gears, they are Phase III. If the gears are closed, and there is another small screw going into the headstock, then they are Phase II. If you just see the closed assembly without a screw going into the headstock, they are the S2 tuners.

If you have the original tuners, I would bet they are S2 tuners. While there are quite a few replacement buttons available for Phase II and Phase III, it seems there aren’t that many available for the S2 tuners. Perhaps there are others that will fit, but I am not sure which those will be.

Ahhhhh... no small screw and the tuners are closed, so... they must be S2 Tuners
