Hello all. I was weak earlier last year and bought a knaggs Severn! After playing it for some time I've decided it's not for me and have been offered a 15 Santana ii in trade. Now, I thought they stopped in 07? It's a lovley looking instrument (I'll add a link to photos soon) it has the purfling signifying a ii. The hang tag does not signify a 10 top either, I thought all 2s were artist grade (I must confess this is my weak point in PRS) can anyone shed light on this? Thanks in advance!

Here are some photos

Looks like a legit Santana 2 to me. The Headstock overlay is not really Brazilian looking, but it could be. Ask for a pic of the back of the Headstock. A "USA only guitar" will tell if it has the BR board (although some recent BR board/neck guitars had "wood passports" for, and were not USA only).

I'll be suspect this one is just a core Santana not a Santana II, so probably indian rosewood used. I love the color, If I bought a core Santana, blood orange would be at the top of the list.

Is there a 'core' santana? Never knew that! Still a worthy trade for a knaggs teir 3 Severn? Not sure on used prices

That is a Santana core 2015. Great guitar but better play it before you buy it. Different taste and needs for different players and playing styles.

I have a private stock howard leese, was thinking king g it would make adequate backup?

If I were you and liked the Golden Eagle, I would hold out for a Santana Retro, a more similar instrument in specs to the Golden Eagle than a Santana II or similar.

If you are familiar with the short scale and 24 frets then I would not exclude at all the Santana II as a backup for your PS Golden Eagle. Just play it and decide.
