Hello PRS Experts,

after you helped me that much with my last guitar, I need to pick your brains again and get your knowledge, experiences, opinions and thoughts about the 2009 Experience guitar.

I know there were supposed to be only 100 of them.

What finishes were available?

Is the Body thickness like a ME?

What´s your opinion on the Rosewood neck? Never had an electric with a rosewood neck before.

What do you think about the whole package?

Have any of you had the chance to play one, or maybe even a few of these guitars float around here on the forums?

To me, the whole thing sounds kinda like one of the newly offered NOS ME I Guitars that was finished recently with 59/09s just without the Braz Neck.....

Pictures are welcome of course!

Thanks in advance for your input,

Best regards,

Olli

Not sure if it was the "experience" guitar but I own a 59/09 in FBJ with the satin finish and other than the W/F neck its the best guitar I've ever owned. My Sig LTD is an interesting and ever closer second though.

Edit: this thread prompted me to A/B the sig ltd and the 59/09 and I'd have to say that the sig now takes the edge in my opinion and will claim the crown of "best guitar I've owned" with the 59/09 now in second it is still a beast of a guitar though.

Faded, your guitar was indeed an Experience guitar. There was an Experience 57/08 guitar the year before as well. Post some pics! :)

Olli,
They're basically Modern Eagles without the Eagle on the headstock. Both models sold for around $4000 at the Experiences. I've never owned one, but they generally had great tops, with typical PRS build quality. Most have held their values pretty well. Still sell for around $3500 to $4000. There was a red 59/09 that sold on eBay awhile back for $2600 and change. Somebody got the deal of the century on that one.

The 59/09 Limiteds were very similar to the first generation Modern Eagle, the differences being the quilted maple top, Indian rather then Brazilian Rosewood, and the different pickups. I remember the color selection being different. I can find references to Faded Blue Jean, Black Gold, and I own one myself in Black Slate.

Great guitar! It's not quite an ME, but it's a very very good Rosewood McCarty. When I got mine, I wanted badly to retrofit 59/09 pickups to my ME, but couldn't get 'em in the hybrid color so went with MEII pickups which are hybrid 57/08s.

I remember seeing these for the first time. I wanted one then and still do.
