2008 SE pickups

I believe they're just the standard SE pickups used in basically every SE with humbuckers. It wasn't until 2010 or so that they started with SE245 pickups and SE HFS and whatnot. I'm still not clear on how those pickups are different.

i've got the chance to try a '07 SE Singlecut with my '09 SE Cu24. The pickups in the Singlecut is more modern sounding than the pickups in the Cu24. i'd say the pickups are both quite decent but the Singlecut's pickups could sound sterile to some. I love the sound they give but it was the Cu24 that i went with, the original pickups sounded more lively but noticeably less hot, and i thought it was more versatile.

For reference,
standard SE pickups - a bit more of a Mark Tremonti/Zach Myers type of tone, excels in modern rock and metal
SE HFS and VB - still modern sounding but a tiny little bit more "vintage" compared to the standard SE pickups. Think Opeth/Orianthi. Could even achieve Santana's tone with some tweaking.

standard SE pickups - the cheaper version of the SC250 pickups
SE HFS and VB - the cheaper version of the HFS and VB

But all in all, the differences are subtle. Our ears (or eyes) will decide which one is superior.

edit: oh i just noticed, auriemma you had a Tremonti SE. They have the same pickups as the SE Singlecut. The difference (if there is) you hear when comparing both guitars are because of the wood. SE Tremonti is fully mahogany while SE Singlecut has a maple top with veneer on mahogany.

I'd like to see a breakdown of magnet type, number of turns on each coil, gauge and type of wire used, and average DC resistance for the various SE pickups, as we have seen in the past for some of the USA pickups. Those specs are out there! They just might be private, PRS internal only information.
