Hi all, new here. Have often played and enjoyed PRS guitars but have yet to own my own. Perhaps someday. But until then, I enjoy those my friends own...and don't mind doing setups and fixes as needed.
Recently a buddy had issues with the preamp 9v in his hollowbody II...one of the wires was off he said. Upon examining the guitar, it was clear that indeed the negative cable was detached, but there was more going on. And I am not sure how things are "supposed" to be.
This older style has a battery compartment with two screws instead of the recent plastic clip version. When you unscrew it, the cover comes off - but the battery and the rest of the battery box were loose inside! This didn't seem right of course, and it appears there are marks where I assume the cover and the box were connected, but as I can't seem to find any pictures online to show me. I put a call in to PRS today but receptionist mentioned this forum as well.
Thoughts? The holder appears to be this one Keystone Electronics Part Number: 1290-79: http://www.keyelco.com/category.cfm/Aluminum-Holders/With-Solder-Lugs/p/424/id/699/c_id/702
and that doesn't show the other part connected...but perhaps these were connected by PRS?
Otherwise what keeps the battery from rattling around in there?
Thanks.
Sean
