2003 PRS Standard 24...

Hi there,

Thinking of getting a '03 PRS standard 24 in sparkle golden/green finish. Can't find much info or reviews online. I saw it has Dragon II pickups. What can I expect from this?

One of the best PRS sounds I ever heard was a standard with dragon Il’s. The overdrive sound was thick, meaty, and bone crunching. It was played through a 30 watt 6L6 custom made amp. Unbelievable.

I've had a Standard with me once but it's a 20th Anni. Standard 24 finised in cherry satin. The 1 single piece of mahogany body glued in with 1 piece mahogany neck and a solid piece of rosewood fretboard made up for a guitar with only 3 pieces of wood structure. Played it acoustically and it's entire body vibrated so strongly, obviously more than my Modern Eagle. One of the PRS that gave me such remarkable experience.

However this guitar didn't come with Dragon II pups. But from my experience with Dragon II, it's one of my all-time favotite of PRS pups. It's powerful for high gain application, considerably bright, with enough mids for comtemporary rock leads.

Thanks for the comments! Any idea if the 2003 supposed to have Phase 2 or Phase 1 tuners? This one came with phase II.

Expect it to be awesome!! I had a mid 2000’s Standard 24 with D2’s and it was fantastic. Wish I never sold it.

never answered this. It should come with Vintage Bass/HFS Combo. However the Dragon IIs are great in the Standard 24.

I saw the hangtag, it says Dragon II. Maybe a custom order.

It's not a CE. Full set neck.

I thought so at first too because of the shadow/coloring of the neck, but then... moons.
