I bought the tickets that long ago. The show is tonight, and I have been looking forward to it….

And I can’t go. :(

.38 Special is my wife’s favorite band, and one my mine. My band even plays their covers (like whose doesn’t?). Row 3, dead center!

But one of God’s little tricks put me in emergency surgery yesterday for a staff infection of my right elbow (as a result of my sling for rotator cuff in surgery last March). In the large scene of things, I’m going to be fine, and going home today, but still….:(

Now for the fun part of this tale. I called my pal and fellow Hoosier, Toby Myers, ex-Mellencamp bassist, and he and his wife are taking my place as my guests! :) And to make this even cooler, Mellencamp’s drummer’s band, The Dane Clark Band is opening, and Toby knows those guys. Toby’s wife Roberta promised to take videos, so……at least I get to go vicariously. Sigh, such is life.

That sucks. But hopefully you’re on the road to recovery.

That’s been on of my fears - having to miss a show because of illness. I’ve only missed one show that I had tix for, and that was weather-related (and only $10).

I also have that recurring dream - you know people say they dream of showing up at school or work naked? Mine is that I’m sitting in the living room with my wife and she says, “I’m surprised you didn’t go see xxx.” I say, “I am going.” She says, “Uh, show started half an hour ago according to the paper.”

And, Boogie beat me to the punchline, but now that we've all shared our condolences, it's time to turn this into a pun thread so remember 11top, until that arm heals...

Hold on loosely

But don't let go.

If you cling to tightly

You're gonna lose control

In 2019, my left elbow got a staff infection from a surgery in 2014. They kept me in the hospital for two weeks until I literally walked out without being "released". Not sure why they wanted me to stay when all they were doing was pumping antibiotics into me. I did not miss any show, but did miss a lot of work.

Sorry to hear this has put hitch in your giddyup! Timing could not be worse!! Heal quickly!!! Maybe 38 special shots of scotch will help what ails ya!!!!
