1999 HFS / Vintage Bass measurements

Done a little gizmo so I can measure pickups in my other guitar

85/15 TCI - Custom 24, 35th Anniversary

DC resistance is not a very good way to measure pickups. A pickup generates an AC signal when ferrous strings cut magnetic lines of force. The more important measurements are inductance (L), capacitance (C), and magnetic flux density (gauss). Very few pickup manufacturers release this information.

I keep reading how the DC resistance is not a particularly useful measurement, though we continue to use it, mistakenly perhaps, to identify how 'hot' or 'strong' a pickup is likely to sound in a guitar. Outside the general consensus boundaries of 'the hotter the pickup, the more muddy it may sound', DC resistance does little to describe the actual character of the pickup.

So, in layman's terms, how could we use those other 3 measurements in a comparison test between different pickups?
