Here is a beat to hell 1990 PRS Custom 24 currently on sale at ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/vintage-pau...240?pt=Guitar_Accessories&hash=item3f3a71f420

We have all seen/experienced the great work that the PTC center can do, but this could be their greatest challenge to date.

This classic PRS deserves to be saved, and as a group we can all aid it's return to glory!

Two options have been proposed thus far:
Everyone contributes an equal share of the recovery costs, then the PTC will pull one contributing members name from a hat to receive the finished guitar.
or
Everyone contributes an equal share of the recovery costs, then it will be a "time share guitar", where it will go from contributing member to member on a continuous month by month basis.

Everything about this guitars recovery will be voted on by the contributing members: color, hardware, etc.

Please indicate in the comments below if you are interested (I will message you further details), also please select which of the 2 options you would prefer above in the poll.

Sounds like a fun idea...and either way I'm in. I didn't vote yet because I want to propose a third option. A raffle winner gets to keep the guitar...AFTER it makes a tour once around with each contributer, for a suitable time (maybe a few weeks to a month each depending on the number). If I had to vote only between these two options I'd vote time share. I think multiple people having the guitar and sharing thoughts & experiences would be too much fun to miss out on.

Alright Tosca, just go ahead and vote Time Share then if you are interested. If time share wins we can start a new poll between the two time share options. Luckily that isn't a decision that has to be made today, but I would like to know how many contributing members we can get in the next 48 hours.

Not to be Debbie Downer here, but the seller says the neck is beyond repair. The PTC doesn't replace necks, from what I have read.

Sounds fun... id be in as long as I get an idea of cost id be contributing. I'm in the process of starting up my own shop with a buddy, so funds will be even tighter now until everything's running, lol

I've contacted the seller, and more pics/details are on the way. I do agree that it is only worth undertaking if the neck is salvageable as well. I have also contacted the PTC, and provided them with the pics currently available to see if they think there is a chance it can be saved.

It looks to me like that guitar needs a new headstock. There must be one lying around the S2 production line they could use. The sad fact is that the cost of the work will make it an expensive fix. The fretboard wouldn't worry me too much; I've seen worse resurrected.

It's obviously had a Roland GK pickup fitted at some point. That's also what the screw hole by the strap button on the lower bout will have been for.

I'd be up for the tour then keep, only because I'm in Aus. The CITES thing would be a PITA though!

I'd also suggest giving the PTC free reign, so we don't squabble over the details like the OFG (Original Forum Guitar).

I'll play if:

1. The PTC says it can be dependable after being saved
2. The cost isn't prohibitive.

if the raffle option wins, I respectfully bow out.
