Hello all. I'm in the process of purchasing a 1986 PRS Custom 24 in blue. The Guitar appears to be a fantastic deal, but the serial number is a little odd. It has the stamped 6, but has a 1900 serial number. Is this common and does it make the guitar an '87 and valued that way? I've been wanting to purchase an actual 86 for quite awhile and want to make sure it's right.
    Thanks for the help!!

I would seriously suggest directing your question to PTC

Cheers, and I hope it works out!

yeah, I gave them a call today. He sounded unsure about it. Said it could have been assembled in 86, held up in the warehouse, then issued a serial in 87. It it was within a couple dozen guitars of the 1700, I could understand, but a couple hundred guitars after seems off.

Very common for guitars made late in the year. Maybe it needed a finish touch up and it came out in early '87...
