Any reason this model isn't very sought after? There's one available now, not the best condition, but seems to be "crackhead cheap." I know it's a buyers market at the moment but surprised it hasn't moved.

The specs I can find are the 57/08 pups, quilt 10 tops but otherwise is it a pretty standard McCarty 24?

Seems like the 1959/2009s typically command a higher price, maybe it's the full rosewood neck...

Love 57/08 pickups Is this the one ?? one piece quilt top ...sweet ..... if so I'd snag it

I believe the 57/08 set is highly regarded by the forum.
Heard nothing but great things!

I just wasn't sure if their special edition "1957/2008" was anything special or pretty on par with a "regular" 24 with the same pups.

The 1957/2008 was a special Experience run, and the first appearance of the 57/08 pickups. To my ears, they were very vintage sounding, and there have been numerous comments about how later iterations were hotter. Which are better is strictly open to interpretation, but I've never felt a need to swap mine out or given much thought to something w/one of the newer versions. There are a couple things that were unique to this run, IIRC, but to be honest, other than the birds, I can't remember what they were.

In case you forgot what was inside, the giant 1957/2008 on the case. I believe there was limited finish’s also, Blueberry, Raspberry, Dingle…… anyhow you get it. Might have only been four or five available. My avatar is a one piece Blueberry though faded quilt. Maybe Charcoal and MaCarty Burst for a total of four available finishes on this run.

Definitely a cool guitar for sure. Just picked up another model so I've been trying to talk myself out of it but you guys make it hard!

There may be reasons but no good ones. One of my best guitars. It’s not the pickups that shine, though they are certainly great. It’s the inherent tone of the guitar itself.

One unusual thing about it, if it's based on the McCarty, is the trem. McCarty Trems are pretty sweet.

I love the 57/08 pickups, and have from Day One.

Are the trems built differently or just that thiccc McCarty body makes it?

The run had a numbered set of CU24, McCs and SC(245?). I dont think there was a McC trem; I guess it is a CU24

I have a CU24 and got it NOS 2 yrs back, dirt cheap as well. Like, early 2000s price. See avatar; a McC burst. My prettiest guitar and great sounding, but vintagy indeed. It had been hanging in the store for years, their only remaining PRS and they were more about selling their own builds and lower end guitars.

Special features of the run ware the 10top quilts, paua J birds (new for that edition), first edition 57/08s PUs and a peruvian hog neck.

There is no good reason for them not selling. Maybe the old school control layout without blade switch? I dunno. In this particular PRS corner lf the webs there are some fans. I'd say: jump on it. Great guitars.

Thanks for the reply! Missed the boat unfortunately, was listed for 6 months and I guess someone finally pulled the trigger.

Ouch, that sucks. Hope you find another one. This guitar has some special appointments that are only found on PS guitars, especially the peruvian hog neck... grab one if you have the chance!

You actually want someone else here to buy it.

Because:
A) You know where it is.
B) You can bully them into selling it to you
C) You’ll know when they’re desperate to fund whatever new shiny object they’re obsessed with.
I'm actually stoked someone did. I pulled the trigger on a Ted last week and really didn't need to buy something else at the moment. Someone made my decision for me!

Means you formally made your way into addict territory, if you are happy someone decided for you. Welcome to the PA meeting!
