I want to add the resistors(the 1.1k and 2.2k) that the newer Starla's and DGT's have.

On the splitter switch, would I de-solder the ground across the middle legs and put the resistors on the corresponding sides and solder to sides of switch?

Any info would help

What may be the reason for the the addition of the resistors?

It seems that this has been done for all 2012+ models with coil-tap switches. Should I make the change for all my pre-2012 guitars?

The resistors prevent the cut coil from being completely sent to ground. Part of the signal, as determined by the resistor, still comes through. It gives the split setting a more full tone, has less volume drop, and is slightly hum cancelling.

For me, it was a revelation. I hadn't ever liked split coil sounds before. Now I won't have a humbucker guitar without the option of splitting with resistors. I get so much use out of those sounds at home and for gigs.
