The middle mod doesn't effect anything other than giving you an awesome NF tone on command. It's totally worth it.

I don't have a clue about the specific weight of the SSH. I CAN tell you that it's surprisingly light. I'm normally a heavy guitar kind of guy, so...
No matter the position, when you pull the pot it isolates the NF. The tone control works on it too.
I gave not tried (or cared to try) splitting...

Mini toggles are wired the same with the exception of the middle lug, red wire. That one looks like it's opposite. I just looked at the photo...
Yep it's push/pull to isolate the NF.
My tone pot will look different from yours, FYI. Don't be alarmed.
