    Hollowbody II Piezo rattling

I ultimately sold mine because of this issue and bought a P22 and couldn’t be happier

NGD (sorta) & Changing 58/15LT out for 58/15MT

I reached out to PRS and they will replace the MTs in mine with LTs and make the switching work like the new models. Cost of the new pickups is $500 plus $100 for installation plus shipping. They’ll send me back the original MTs. I may go that route. Anyone see any reason not to?

NGD (sorta) & Changing 58/15LT out for 58/15MT

I emailed PRS re swapping MTs out for LTs and changing the wiring in my 2020 model to match the current specs. Here's their response: "You wouldn't be able to use the same style mini toggle switches that are currently being used as they are a bit bigger and would not fit in the cavity. You...

NGD (sorta) & Changing 58/15LT out for 58/15MT

Actually, I’m seeing a lot of new ones with the LTs and the neck pickup with the screw coil close to the bridge. Not sure why PRS keeps changing the orientation of the neck pickup.

NGD (sorta) & Changing 58/15LT out for 58/15MT

The older models with the MTs have the screw coils on the neck closest to the bridge (backwards from the typical 2 bucker guitar), the new models with the LTs have the screw coils closest to the neck.

NGD (sorta) & Changing 58/15LT out for 58/15MT

Installing resistors is easy. I added those to my 1995 McCarty. My concern is that the wiring of the toggles is completely different and it’s not a direct swap of each wire when going from MTs to LTs or vice versa

NGD (sorta) & Changing 58/15LT out for 58/15MT

I can confirm that my MTs have no resistors

NGD (sorta) & Changing 58/15LT out for 58/15MT

@MWebster Here's a photo of the cavity of my SSH with MTs. Would you mind doing the same with yours with the LTs? I can try to take better pictures if this is helpful.

NGD (sorta) & Changing 58/15LT out for 58/15MT

It looks to me that MT’s get wired to the mini-toggles with black, red, white and green wires. But the LT’s have only red, white and green in the neck and only black, green and red in the bridge. How do you connect 3 wires where 4 wires previously were?

NGD (sorta) & Changing 58/15LT out for 58/15MT

I have a 2020 Special Semi Hollow with the MT’s and I’m actually trying to go the other way and want to swap to the LT’s. The MT’s are too hot for my tastes. But I can’t find information anywhere about how to do the swap given the different wiring of the MT’s vs the LT’s. I reached out to PRS...

Has anyone played both the limited run SSH (58/15MTs) and the newer core SSH (58/15LTs)?

No, I didn’t get a response. Let’s resurrect this thread and see if anyone has any suggestions.

Has anyone played both the limited run SSH (58/15MTs) and the newer core SSH (58/15LTs)?

Can someone who has the newer core SSH tell me if the wiring uses resistors to give more output to the 58/15LTs when split, or if there are no resistors meaning the humbuckers are effectively split completely down to just one coil? The limited edition version I have from 2020 with the MT’s...

Has anyone played both the limited run SSH (58/15MTs) and the newer core SSH (58/15LTs)?

If I did swap the MT’s for LT’s, is it a straight exchange or do I need to add a resistor to match the wiring in the new core SSH?

Has anyone played both the limited run SSH (58/15MTs) and the newer core SSH (58/15LTs)?

I have a 2020 Special Semi-Hollow with the 58/15MT pickups. I've always struggled with feeling that the neck pickup is too hot for my tastes and have been intrigued by the idea that the newer core version uses the lower output 58/15LT pickups. Now that I can easily buy a set of 58/15LT's, I'm...

    New pickups in my HBII/Piezo

I thought I had read here that other pickups might be out of phase with the piezo and that you needed to reverse the leads in order to have them work properly when blended with the piezo.

    New pickups in my HBII/Piezo

Thanks @Andrew Paul, very helpful. No issues with phase and the interaction of the new pickups with the piezo?

    New pickups in my HBII/Piezo

Did you do the pickup swap yourself or take it to a pro? If the former, how tough a job was it?

    Special Semi-Hollow Pickup Swap?

OP here. In thinking about all of the responses I realize that I love the sound of the 58/MTs in the tapped position, they're kind of a middle ground between humbuckers and single coils. I find the neck pickup way too hot and muddy when in full humbucker position and I almost always leave the...

    Special Semi-Hollow Pickup Swap?

Thanks Wedge. I'm not sure they're identical because the MTs tap the pickups whereas my understanding is the LT's split the pickups. That's exactly what I'm trying to find out. If we can confirm it's an easy swap I would totally do that.

    Special Semi-Hollow Pickup Swap?

I have a 2020 Special Semi-Hollow. I love the guitar but don’t like the 58/15MT pickups. They are too hot for my taste and way too mid-rangey. I think I’d be happier with lower output pickups for a cleaner, sweeter tone. How difficult would it be to swap pickups given the multi-tap wiring? Are...
