    Lyrics That Matter

I agree with Shawn about Mark Knopfler - one of my favorite lyricists as well. And I know from Shawn he is also a big fan of Butch Hancock (1/3 of the Flatlanders). How about Butch's "If You Were a Bluebird?" - some more great 'Americana' music. Here is a video from 1990, again with David...

    Lyrics That Matter

LEVELLAND, by James McMurtry, called by some America's 'Fiercest' Songwriter. A great lyrical storyteller.....and in this video you will see one Mr. David Grissom playing lead to James' recording (~3:00 and again ~4:50): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-D824LHti4 Flatter than a tabletop...

I Have a 2007 DGT Gold Top and I Need Some Info

Nice early, early one from late, late 2007. They were still not released at XPRS 2007 (much to DGh's disappointment, as I recall). Mine iss early April 2008 - full birds - so not too far behind you. If you remember David played the goldtop with moons almost exclusively the first year or so.

    RIP BOB WELCH 6/7/12

Yes - heard the news tonight on the drive home - we wore out "Bare Trees" in college, and then five years later with his solo album "French Kiss." RIP

    First Album/CD purchase

3 at the non-KISS party Speaking of Three Dog Night - certainly not my first album, but practically wore out "Live at the Forum" from 1969, learning this arrangement of a Lennon McCartney song. We did this in our high school band. Very challenging three-part acapella, but much fun.

2011 Private Stock Sig Ltd run of 100 - Show Us!

Re: 2011 Private Stock Sig Ltd run - #1 - #100 Show Us! My understanding is that Tim's #099 was probably the last one out the door, but there is indeed a #100 which was most likely completed earlier.....at one point I think I was told who was going to get it, but so far has not surfaced that I...

    First Album/CD purchase

+1 Shawn. Everyone should see him live at least once - we did a couple of years ago and MK is unbelievably tasteful and talented.

    First Album/CD purchase

First vinyl was most likely one of the early Capitol pressings of "Meet the Beatles." When CD's first came out - the first one was classical - Beethoven or Tchaikovsky most likely. Would have been early, early, late 1984 early 1985. Before my son could walk, he learned to open the cd player...

    What is Goldtop listening to?

Re: What are you listening to? Certainly agree there JD - some mighty fine musicians supporting Warren on that recording for sure - including Ian McLagan, Ruthie Foster, George Porter - I've been fortunate to see all of them in the last year fronting their own bands (Mac twice). Really fine...

    What is Goldtop listening to?

Re: What are you listening to? All of Stephen Bruton's 5 CD's. Stephen (RIP) was a very good friend of David Grissom - he produced some of the Storyville recordings, he and David co-wrote together, and the last song "Final Rendezvous" on David's new CD is about Stephen. He was a tasteful...
