I once owned a korina Mira that was excellent. Nice way to find the Regular neck carve on a budget and the guitar rocked.
Mira X model was flat top rather than the proto-S2 carve on the original Mira and 22 frets.
Minor updates! Probably going to keep it for a while, after getting it cleaned up it still sounds and feels excellent.
Got the pickup covers cleaned up - they're not perfect but are way better. Might still try a scotchbride run to make them look closer to new.
Replaced the corroded saddle...
I made a paste from baking soda and a few drops of water, and that went a long way. Then a run of silver foam as that is what we had on hand. They're halfway there or so. The brown and green spots are all gone, now just some lines from the strings pressing on the bridge pickup cover in the case...
Some great advice here. I don’t mind a bit of dirtyness but the extreme green stuff is really gross.
And this isn’t my play wear, it came when it was missing for a decade without being taken care of very well (see my other thread). That makes it a little upsetting for me. I’ll probably leave...
I have a DGT with a bunch of corrosion on the brushed pickup covers. I was wondering if anyone had tips for cleaning them up without damaging anything?
I've previously used green scotchbrite to give some Dimarzio 36th PAFs the brushed look. But I need to clean all of this other stuff off first.
I'm going to keep it for at least the next while and get it cleaned up. I've ordered the 'tremolo update kit' for new intonation and saddle height adjustment screws, cleaned the fretboard, and am setting up the bridge from scratch this weekend. I'll have my tech do a fret cleaning and try to get...
Okay - here it is! It is beat up but not as bad as anticipated. One of the interim owners had some finish work done to cover up a bunch of deep scuffs on the back and neck so that is probably fine. A couple of chips on the top/binding that will probably stay. Worst things are> all of the frets...
I would rather have the 36th than the #7 for metal. #7 too thin sounding and a little compressed. 36th more full range and open. Fortitude or Breed Neck in the bridge if you want a little extra kick, I think the 36th bridge is maybe a bit weak but also I like contrast between my neck and bridge...
Also have been on a big Opeth kick lately and seeing all of Mikael's Custom 24s has really planted a seed in my head! I've been looking at those since I was a teenager and never had one of my own. I've "just" had a Singlecut, DGT, and Mira as far as PRS go.
I love PT! I only had the pleasure of seeing them on the most recent tour last fall. But I tell you what, Steven Wilson at Park West in Chicago with Guthrie Govan, Marco Minneman, et al on the Raven tour was a transcendent experience.
I also loved the Tweaker. Really usable master volume and the different voices were each implemented pretty well.
I am curious to try the 15 watt 5150 LBX-S with channel switching from clean to modern high gain - may be my next amp. Switches down to 3.something watts and I hear the volume and...
They're real and they're spectacular.
This unavailability is sadly what I figured. May have to just keep an eye on Reverb, TGP, etc. for a set to come along.
I know this is extremely specific, but the SE knobs have the little hashmarks like every other black speed knob and the original PRS knobs only had the numbers.
I'm sure this has been asked before, so I apologize in advance.
I'm shopping for a Custom 24/22 and notice many owners have swapped the knobs for the newer geometric lamphade. These are great looking knobs but I do prefer the speed knob look and function. Is there anywhere currently to source...
