At least I think they're carved.
Is there much of a tonal difference between the older flat / slab SE Custom 22/24 and the newer, carved Custom...
Well, I thought that. Asking quite strong money as well even if it was genuine.
It's an SE245 but I can't see a serial number or manufacturing info on the back of the headstock.
Yeah. I think I actually prefer the look of the plain mahogany, I like them simple but I prefer the tone of the maple.
It's all about tone right?
That'd where I'm at, but the sad truth have is that I probably need to move one of them on.
Not painful at all. Being wrong is how you learn isn't it?
I was aware of maple topped guitars described as having more "bite" (nice, vague...
So I'm fortunate enough to have a pair of SE 245s. A 2011 maple topped and a 2015 plain mahogany.
I've posted a thread about...
I've had them out, and they're just G&B 245 pickups, nothing more exciting. A previous owner must have just preferred the look of covered pickups.
I've been thinking that. I can't find a picture of one with covered pickups and as far as I can see, none of the PRS literature has SE245s with...
I don't think it's the woods. I'm not totally convinced that they have a huge effect (not wanting to start an argument here).
I reckon it's more...

Apologies for the messy background.
Thank you. That's pretty much what I was looking for.
So does the spec of the "PRS Designed" SE pickups change every now and again then? If I had the pickups out, I presume I'd find a model number on...
I have no particular desire to change them. They work perfectly well for me. I just like to know these things.
My 2009 SE Custom 22 has "PRS Designed" pickups. Is that a specific set of pickups? To me it's sounds like a catch-all term like "Duncan...
I've got an acoustic that needs a nut changing and thinking about it both my SEs probably need it as well (all came to me used having had the nut...
I thought that as well.
Well, there's a maple topped one on its way to me now. I'm telling myself I'll play it against the plain mahogany one...
Specifically, a 2013 model.
This is the problem I'm getting. In some places it says there is a maple cap, in others it doesn't.
Does the year of manufacture...
I'd seen conflicting info on the web so, given the forum where I asked this question, I'm going to take that as definitive!
