depends on the guitar and pickup I use. I love the Archer IKON on neck pups ...MXR Timmy is great overall OD ...also my Boss Blues Driver Waza and my Boss OD 3 . It depends on my mood.
Came perfect right out the box. Action is a tad higher than I like but even so, plays incredible. I'm not even going to mess with it for awhile....The fret work is the best I have seen and felt in mid priced and even higher priced guitars, EVER. every not rings clear and no fretting out anywhere...
Way back in the late 70s and 80s, I had very limited choice. I went from a Yamaha solid state to 100W Marshall. Currently I am in love with my PRS HDRX 20 watter, but I also have plug ins , Fender Tonemaster and a Katana. They all have a purpose. The more choices the better.
It took me a couple weeks of tweaking mine to find the sweet spot. It's definitely bass heavy, so you really have to dial back both the bass control and bass channel control , for humbuckers at least. I haven't tried it much with single coils yet, but other demos tells me it sounds pretty...
That's exactly how I feel. I knew almost immediately this was going to be a good one to keep. The more I have had a chance to dial it in to my guitars, the better it gets. It just sings ! I play lower gain stuff and it's just perfect.
BTW, you do mean mV don't you? that is how it is measured in mV, not mA.....
I just raised mine to around 28 mV average and it sounds much better.
EDIT: Found the sweet spot at 29.5 ....Wow, what a difference from how it was set at factory.
I just checked my bias on the HDRX 20 and from factory it was biased with an average of just under 26. Do they always ship them with colder bias? anyway, time to experiment :) love the amp even at 26 bias
underrated from other guitar players or mass appeal?
if it is mass appeal I would say my all time favorite player , Michael Schenker. Otherwise, every guitar player worth their salt knows who he is and would have him somewhere on their all time greatest list.
most likely the pickups. I like , not love , my '92 era pickups but I know PRS makes much better ones now. I just want to keep everything original on this one. and then maybe just a little beefier neck profile.
Nice, glad you found the amp on your neighbor's porch! I had mine delivered with required sig. sometimes I have them dropped at FED EX so I can pick up later. Lots of porch thieves this time of year. what speakers are you playing this through?
