    Multiple CE24 Necks

Or, there are these guys (The Stratosphere) who seem to be building a reputation for selling PRS parts from disassembled "wrecked" guitars. https://reverb.com/item/67007611-2020-american-prs-paul-reed-smith-ce-24-neck-guitar-parts-usa-rosewood But it would be better in my opinion to have an...

    Multiple CE24 Necks

I tried to search for this thinking someone has had to of asked this question before, but the search function told me "CE24" was too common to include in the search. So.... I'm really loving my CE 24 I just got. It's got an Ebony fretboard and of course, the old-style birds. It would be cool...

:D;) Yes. I ripped that box right open the millisecond the box hit the inside of the house. A bit of a scare at first. Seem the box landed in some water during the journey. I took a bunch of photos to show the box had not been opened just in case, and held my breath.... Wildwood packed...

It's HERE! See, I knew hitting the refresh button on the FedEx app every 30 minutes would make it get here faster. They said it was supposed to be delivered between 11 and 3. Usually they are here at 3:28. But not today! They got here at 9:35am! I'm really torn. The outside temp overnight was...

I know I should wait until I get the actual guitar for some good, well-lit shots. But here's what I'm waiting impatiently for..... 57/08 - check Ebony fretboard - check Natural wood showing front, back, neck - check Eriza Verde - check Hey! It checks all the boxes! Glad I missed that first one...

I agree and I know you mean well with that advice. But for most of us, a plane ticket and the necessary time to travel to Denver or St. Louis or Chicago to audition several guitars just isn’t in the cards. I really wish people would stop with that advice. I’d never have bought the CE24 I just...

Well, I must not have looked hard enough the first time around. I found a brand new '23 serial-numbered CE 24 with an ebony fretboard, 57/08 pickups, in Eriza Verde at a price I could live with and a dealer with a good reputation. Now the neurosis of waiting for the delivery truck begins...

I'm partial to the 57/08 since I think it makes a good compliment to the Vela and the blues sounds I like to generate. But if it comes down to color and neck, I'll probably go with that and swap the pickups sometime in the future. Though at $250 each for the 57/08s, I might just wait for the...

I saw those, too! Yeah, $2,999 is a bit steep. Especially since it wasn't more than a dozen or so months ago, there was a dealer in the NE that had the same type of run in the $2,399 and $2,499 range. Go figure. The economy is going in the toilet, and everyone is raising their prices. :) I...

I am so in love with my Vela that I have decided that it needs a companion other than my partscaster and Black Diamond Flying-V. I’m down to two (maybe 3) CE 24s. One is used with 57/08s that has basically hung on a wall since it was purchased 3 years ago (mint). The other is new(er - ‘21 sold...

    PRS Grainger discontinued?

I saw this on the PRS Grainger 4-string page: But I don't see the same notice on the 5-string page. Clarification from those in the know? Is the whole line being discontinued? If so, will there be a replacement?

McCarty vs Paul's vs Santana vs...

oh, interesting. How do I tell? That's subjective isn't it? My Gibson needed oil for sure. It had a little bit of fret sprout before I oiled it. Now it's fine. I was "taught" to oil, let it soak in, then wipe after a few hours, then oil again and let it sit overnight before final wipe, then let...

McCarty vs Paul's vs Santana vs...

Is it ok to go ahead and oil the fretboard ( MusicNomad F-One Fretboard Oil) and wax the body/neck with Renaissance Wax? Or should I give it some time to breath and cure?

McCarty vs Paul's vs Santana vs...

Yes!! It's here! I was expecting to get overwhelmed by fumes from the finish like I did when I opened the case on my recently purchased Gibson with the same type of finish (Feb '22 man. date). I was pleasantly surprised that there were no fumes at all! This one has a build date of May '22.

Thought I would update this thread and let everyone know that I ordered a brand new satin cherry Vela today with a modest discount from my local PRS dealer. Should be here early next week. I'll post a picture when it gets here! After listening to countless PRS YouTube demos, info from this...

    Vela changes since new

Great video and good for my inspiration! However, I meant where was the genesis of the idea? For instance, did someone accidentally glue the bass half of the body to the treble half of the body 2 inches too high and they decided to see if they could turn it in to a new model? Was there...

    Vela changes since new

Follow up question.... How did the Vela come about? What was the inspiration? Was this one of Paul's original designs?

ah, detail behind the single coil change, please! From what to what? What year? Why? Seems like the humbucker looks different over the iterations as well.
